Hi I'm new to the sport but have a friend's old kite to trade in. Im wondering if anyone knows more about the BWS and Best trade in deals. Which is better?
Thanks ![]()
best deal is a hardly used second hand kite. I saw 2012 north neo for 900 with new bar. i dunno how much these deals make the kites but i wouldnt buy BWS (no resale) maybe Best but no re-sale value on that either.(at least in Aus)
Your new to the sport? how much experience? twintip rider or SB?
BWS is just a wave kite, slow and designed for the waves. If your new to the sport i assume want a versatile kite.
Look to Best for the deal in my opinion. Great range of tried and tested kites, tweaked each season and not re-invented.
For longevity you can't look past the Double core Ripstop material on the Best kites, easily see you through 3 seasons. Thats where im going, TS v2's 5,7,9 =)
My brother still has a V2 kahoona 11.5m in near perfect condition...in that even now yo pump up the bladders and they will stay hard for days....
Only damage to kite was the tares he put them in himself... Had it for I don't know now...3 to 4 years...
He rides edges now of course, just has it to teach crew and all that jazz.
Best kites for quality of build for sure....
i suggest the bws noise ![]()
the bar and safety is excellent
the kite is easy to use, plenty of depower, easy to launch, are bomb proof ![]()
you dont want a ridiculously fast kite to learn with. the noise is medium fast and has a fast and slow setting.![]()
disclosure: i paid full price for the last one i bought ![]()
I'm thinking of trading in an old kite for this deal too.
Question: How does this deal stack up against purchasing a brand new kite without trade in? Is there a significant difference?
It seems both companies aren't in good standing with the kiting community.
The BEST deal is a traded in kite given 'up to' $660 off the price of a new kite.
So who knows what that really means.
Could be like a shop advertising an up to 60% off sale, then you go in and the only thing with 60% off is some obscure item that no one would buy anyway.
BWS deal is any kite any age- even a crappy old 8 year old kite you will get $500 off not this upto crap but a full $500! i always seem to get good resale on my BWS kites too! bar in hands down best bar on market!!!!!!!
Guy traded a Naish ARX in today and we gave him $550 off a new 9.5m Kahoona. Dude was very stoked, he bought the ARX off a mate for a carton.
Oh and this deal is only available through Australian retailers, not online.
BWS min. trade deal is finished. You are too late. It ran for the whole of Dec & Jan.
It was a genuine full $500 reduction from the price of the 'complete + upgrade' price that has remained the same throughout the promotion.
The BEST deal has just started -
10M and above with a 10M or larger trade-in gets you a $660 discount off the regular price.
Under 10M with any trade-in gets you $550 off.
Both Offers only apply to new 'complete' packages - not the huge discount off 'kite only' purchases.
No gimmicks on either deal - just advertising dollars invested back into kiters pockets.
BEST kites will be available for free demo's at Kitestock ![]()

as will BWS but just not on special trade-in deal prices.
I'm very lucky to have 3 shaggy old kites to trade in, knew my time would come. Will be at kitestock if anybody wants a good rundown on the Cabo and TS line up ![]()
Thanks everyone for the advice. Can't believe I missed the BWS deal... I want to use it with a SB eventually but will hopefully be able to use with a twin tip too..
My question re the Best deal would be how they would treat me trading in my old Wipika Airblast - it is an 8.4 but it is from the day where there was projected area and flat area with the latter being the standard now but Wipika used the projected area method so the 8.4 was akin to a 12 flat - would they give me the 10m trade in price or the sub 10 m trade in price . . .
nah, seriously, I really do have a mint condition Wipika Airblast (series 1) 8.4 sitting in the garage, saving it up just for a trade in offer like this :) They do say they will take any kite as a trade in, bet they hadn't thought there were people like me who had kites from way back then.
Most people here wont even know of the brand let alone have flown something as fun and dangerous . . . .
