Best plan is when its windy scan the coast or waterways for kites its the great thing about the sport we tend to be obvious.
Find where they are and watch take note of the wind direction and strength is the wind stronger further out and gusty near the beach. Check how they launch and land, if its near where you live introduce yourself. Check the area down wind especially because if your new this is where you'll end up. If you need lessons this maybe a place to ask, instructors will better explain wind, location etc.
Please stay save.
Hey there mate, I have found some information that helped me out. Here it is, have a look.
Reading the windhttp://www.tantrumkitesurf.com/kiteschool/readingthewind.php
And wind forecasts
www.tantrumkitesurf.com/kiteschool/windforecast.php
I'm sure there is loads more info out there, but it should give you a good idea.
Also using google/google earth is a good way to look at beaches and which direction they run I.e Nth, East, etc
No teeee
These wind directions are very bad particularly at Brighton and Ramsgate
On a west wind it is extremly gusty and bumpy as the wind blows through and around the buildings. Even places like that can handle westerly wind are very gusty because the wind has blown over so many kilometers of land.with mountains trees and hills the southerlys are similar.
The Idea of looking where others are is not a bad idea, but at this time of year many experienced kiter are desperate for ride and go to places that are very dangerous. These guys know the risks involved and have safety plan all ready in mind if something goes wrong they also ride with good friends they know will help them if something goes wrong.
You should be looking for easterly winds either southeast or northeast.
What I used to do is check what direction the wind comes from on seabreeze and then check google maps (or the maps section on seabreeze) and see if the wind is cross onshore or parallel
After a while you know which beach goes with which direction.
god this is alot for me is any one going kitesuefing soon im not gonna slow any one down but i just need some one 2 tell me what 2 do i know im just a bignner but i love this sport and i dont wanna give it up but like this now its very hard for me
To the kiters in teees region, the best thing you could do is meet up and show the bloke the ropes instead of trying to give advice via this forum or for teee to get some help from a local school , no disrespect its harder for some to get a grasp and disorientating when wind directions are talked about , if your not familiar with it, or the region , do the right thing fellas give him a hand
Tee, if you need someone to kite with, and I think you do, try the Hook Up Forum
www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/The-Hookup/
here on Seabreeze to find others to kite with or the Sydney University Crazy Kiters S.U.C.K. on Facebook. They are very active socially. Get onto them for kiting days out together, social events and more.
