Starting to wave kite this season and have pretty much shelved the twin tip. I wan to hear from those experienced guys who have optimised their quiver's. What size kites/boards they use to get them out in (almost) all conditions. What is your smallest/biggest kite, what strength can you still ride comfortable/unhooked? Largest kite, when you use it etc.

I don't want to turn this into a brand pimp, so if you mention a make/model please only in terms of power (i.e 8 is my biggest size because it has more low end than other brands.)

At the moment I use an 8 meter 2010 Rebel and a Rev 2 11 meter. Both kites are fricking awesome, but the Rebel has quite a bit of grunt for its size, so it is only really comfortable up until 20-23 knots strapless. Plus it gets me out in pretty light winds, so the two kites have way too much cross-over.

What about boards, do people have different sizes? I just use my regular 6'1 short board. I have never used straps before, but do people find some conditions where they prefer going strapped? When, stonking winds etc?

Thanks in advance

Haha, realised I said I don't want brand pimping, then pimped the brands I use. Please ignore that line

Depending on what your twin tip is (If its a toothpick then yes maybe shelve it) it still can be alot of fun in the waves particularly if the wind is blowing onshore and its strong and there is a fair bit of chop .I used mine yesterday in these type of conditions and had a ball .Guys on surfboards and no straps were complaining about the gustyness of the wind ,the chop and the onshoreness of the wind even tho it was one of the best days we have had in the last 6 mths

Why shelve tts. Try the mutant boardade by an Australian company who also make unreal tts as well. Have a tt that surfs. Don't think that because Crew are all using SBs that this is the way to go. If ya not surfing margs or gnarloo why a SB. Too limited in onshore slop we get.

I still occasioanlly will use my twin tip, but much prefer my shortboard, even in onshore slop. I definately won't sell it anyway.

But I didn't want to turn this into tt vs. shortboard debate
