Weren't you the guy who wanted to kite at Bondi? Plenty of bikini-clad ladies there. Go talk to them.

Maybe the nature of your post is the reason we do not see more women in our sport.

We should be encouraging women to our sport for reasons other than just eye candy.....

Well said Joe. To put it conversely, we need fewer chauvinist tools.

That said, I'm sure Susi understands that the amount of sponsorship dollars she earns due to her kiting skills and media abilities (which are excellent) is also increased by the fact that she appears in bikinis in ads that will mainly be seen by men.

Our sport and these forums are pervaded by objectification, and to some it's an acceptable part of the bargain. What others agree to is their business but I for one am not so into it. I have nothing against good looking women but I do find it insulting that folks think I will buy their kiting product just because it has boobs on or near it.

Props to Griffin Kites for stating explicitly on their website that they do not objectify women in their advertising and promotion. www.monkeykites.com/about-the-kites/about

Doesn't mean I'll buy a griffin kite but it will certainly get them onto my short list.

As for women in the sport, all the ones I know are into it cos they love to kite, not so they can be ogled by the blokes.

So Fiketto, don't tell me what I need.

I'd rarther hang out with a bunch of ugly trollops that are kiters and have a good time than half the stuck up Paris wannabe molls that sit around the beach pretending there better than the world.

^^^ what he said^^^

the sport does seem a bit rough on appearance, but with a little convincing the people around me including girls are starting to show interest. also having a female kiter to back me up when i say that its not a "guy" sport anyone can do it really helps ;)

DjDoJo agreed.

Its actually disturbing to see people post like that to me. It appears to me that they are wanting to just have "women to oogle" and of course oogling women in a sport that is in and of itself hazardous is not a good idea.

All it takes is you to turn your head looking away from your srs bidness and your died. Kiting can be hard enough without that kind of nonsense.

I think its cool to see both men and women at the beach for the mere fact that its people having fun, beyond that it helps prove there is market for further advancement of the sport. This gives kite makers more reason to build better kites.

Way to get women to kite? Treat them with respect and do not make them feel unwelcome. At Kite Beach in Maui just as example a woman took off her top and got barked at for doing so. Rightfully so this is not what kitesurfing is and the second you make it that I think you will see kitesurfing being banned all over

Bad enough as is with regulations we do not need the other head getting people killed or killing themself.

Looks like I'm gunn a stick to the SUP forum.

Kiting has people from all walks doing it. Many of them women. Maybe because they don't look like the post above you just didn't realize.

Let's call full time on this discussion to save things getting further down the slippery slope.

If it helps I will offer to put on a bikini, but to be honest I don't really know if that will appeal to anyone...
