Hi Lurch (or anyone else that knows):

- what is the story with the locked gates at the first fenceline - is this now permanent?

I presume they are locked at both the Lanno and Wedge sides, which means it is pretty hard to get to BR currently with very little beach.

Cheers

Defence has permanently closed the range to public access a few months back. They are not restricting access along the beach but I had a look today from Dide Bay and you would be a brave fella with a big shovel to tackle it.

Cheers mate.
Did it over Easter from lanno - and drove past bogged cars at narrow neck on the way there and back - gave them the number for the 4x4 recovery service !!!

I take it top track now disappeared over past few days?

(and cheers for responding)

i was wondering the same thing, we did the same at easter, i don't understand why the range access is closed but we are still allowed to drive down the beach, surely if they are using the range then the beach is just as un safe?

If they have permanently closed it, can they have live fire at any time?
Wouldn't want to be at bombies if that happened.

Going from lano to didi along the beach is for the more hardcore, stay high, there is one section to look out for that is notorious
Try v8, 35" muddies at 12psi, lift kit, diff locks and some maxtrax (all things I don't have)Oh and shovel
Winter storms create a few washouts that make it challenging if not impossible.

Yup the track is permanently closed, the 'powers that be' are talking seriously about prosecuting anyone that trespasses onto defence land. Police are already being made aware of trespassers and illegal camping.

I am guessing the top track along the beach from the first fenceline (Lanno side) has been washed away after Easter.

Has anyone been up and can answer please ?

Lurch ?

Cheers
