Looking for an island to head to for two people for a kiting holiday. Anyone know a good one that has good winds, warm water and weather.
Just want some ideas.......
phillip island (you can drive there, near you too)
noosa north shore ($5 ferry ride)
bit expensive but,
fraser island ($100 return 
)

Magnetic Island near Townsville is a pretty cheap option, although as a local kiter I don't think the wind is consistent enough to wager $5K kiting holiday on it. It would be great if you scored a week of 20-25knots however!

You might want to think about Port Douglas with a little camping weekend out to Lizard?

Talk to Marvin from In the Loop Townsville about Lizard trips, and also his recent trip to PNG - it went off apparently, heaps of 25-30kn winds, blue lagoons, waves, relatively cheap access. They have some more boat trips in the pipeline for this year and 2010.

Of the South Pacific destinations, New Cal is good but exxy. Vanuatu and Fiji might be better options.

Rob and Ant did a stirling job on a 4 day with me - imangine 2 weeks with the guys..........people who have been on this trip know what im talking about.

Funky Fish resort Malolo island Fiji.. just got back and the place was awesome.. when the wind is on you can kite high or low tide when the wind is off you can surf some sick waves.. we scored!!
For 5k you could stay there for a month with airfares and all meals provided..
Penguin Island 
Downtown Rocko/Shoalwater. Choice of waves, flat/wind directions. Cheap as, good, accomodation and no shortage of Bourbon and coke specials around!
In all seriousness took the fam down there for a week (after another holiday fell through) and have to admit it was a tops fam/kiting destination. Trip to the supermarket was bloody scary though. Found the missing link(s) for sure!
