Hi. Another Pommy bastardo just recently landed here in Sydney on a four year work placement in the city. Living in the 'Burbs of the Hills District, and am keen to find out what the situation is with the wind in this 'ere city.
I've lived in Cape Town for last three years (which is where I got into kiting), so been a bit spoilt there. I know I've landed here at the wrong time of year, but is there ANY winter wind, or is it sit-tight 'til the summer? Biggest kite I have is a 12m which was rarely used in South Africa. Also got a 9 and a 7.5.
I took a drive over to Dolls Point/ Brighton etc just to have a look over Easter and was a bit depressed by what I saw (planes/refinaries/ de-sal' plants etc).
I think it was Feb since I last got on the water and I'm starting to get a bit depro ![]()
Hmmm....not good! How was the summer though? What kind of winds do you guys get over here? Looking at Botany Bay, I can only imagine it gets hellishly overcrowded in-season.
Looking at the NSW Kite Association maps, it looks like the Northern Beaches may be an option? Are they any good?
