Well on the way back from exmouth, my wife ( who is going to Europe with some students for two weeks), said in the April holidays why don't you go somewhere for a week to kite as your 40 th present and she will organise the kids to stay with someone.
So....where to go, that would be at least somewhat affordable in April?? Heard Thailand might be okay??
Also heard cairns top end of Australia, surely not right?
Any ideas?
Ps it will be late April.
Vietnam looks promising!
Hey mate, I'm only new to kitesurfing but I'm actually currently in Mui Ne, Vietnam, having a holiday (actually learning to kite tomorrow!) It's got a really cool vibe! Super cheap. $5-$10 US a night for A/C, fridge, good bathroom, comfy bed etc etc. or splash out at the resorts for maybe 20-$30 haha. Meals are max $4-$5 unless you want lobster.
But today there was maybe 30 kites out on the sea and some real good riders! Cool to watch :) I really recommend it.
Cheers
Epps, Kiteworld/travel,gives you all the info you need , for all the main spots, its well worth a look
hey epp
think it is towards the end of the season in mui ne March/April. Might get lucky with some days on a big kite, but my 2 cents would be that there are better places. ripper place, but not where i would go for total wind and water focus - vietnam is more of an all round travel experience trip imo
haven't gone over to kiteworld myself, but maybe phillipines would be better wind then, traded off with more pricey, but you could try looking outside the boracay path... also loved some of the flat water vids posted on northern sri lankan footage in the past few months... good luck
I recently bought a copy of The World Kite and Windsurfing Guide. Fantastic book with great information, a lot of it sourced from locals. There are enough spots to keep you going to new locations for the next 20+ years. You can find it in the Seabreeze shop.
Agree with mazdon that you'll struggle for wind in Mui Nei at that time of year. Hawaii should be pumping in April.
Yeh I figured as much. it's like saying come to perth in late Feb/mar, there will be wind but not guaranteed. Hawaii yes is the go, but not sure if it is within the wife's budget. Also only a week pass has been given, so 3K for a plane flight alone for a week...mmmm,
