Hi WA Guys,
I am curious why there seems to be regular posts, from kiters in WA that loose there kites. My rational thoughts are:
1) People not wearing kite leashes
2) Beginners self taught not understanding safety, and packed down.
3) People seem to kite in cross off shore conditions in WA and not cross onshore
4) The swell is considerably larger than us on the East Coast, and people tend to get into more trouble.
Could someone enlighten me.

Maybe because in WA there are kites on the water almost every day, unlike your side. Not saying that there are more kiters, just that there are more kites on the water per unit of time.
^ Yep at 4.30 this arvo when I arrived at Brighton (WA), I counted at least 60 kites, approx 20 looking North towards Trigg, 20 straight out at Brighton and another twenty looking South, doing the downwind run from City Beach/Floreat.
That is just one of many locations around the metro area, so who know's how many would have been out in total around Perth.....200+?
because a few team players unselfishly sacrifice their kites to the gods, and in turn we are treated with solid wind![]()
We're shameless.
Stats are about the same, we just love to get on Seabreeze and tell the whole world about our stupidity/misfortune. ![]()
