I know this is a bit general but I have completed a number of lessons and am now up and going. I have done a bit of a search but am still unable to find the answer to a couple of questions.
Firstly - heading to merimbula for easter and noticed winds are going to have a bit of Westerly in them, will there still be kiting options.
Secondly- After kiting only st kilda and inverloch I was just wondering if rosebud would be suitable for beginners and if so is there anything I should be aware of before heading out.

Westerlies at Merimbula will be off shore on coast and from the land side inside so Gusty.
As for Rosebud, Northerlies are the go and you will see plenty of kites there when the northerlies do blow, so lots of people to get on the beach advice from.

If youre up there on Friday head north an hour or so and you might be lucky enough to find a good southerly spots with some wind.
Maybe try Sat morning too. Southerlies and Southwesters, you should be able to find some good spots, even with good waves. You just may have to explore a bit.
rosebud is a good spot for learning, its waist deep for a long way out and not too much chop.
be careful if there's any east in the wind as arthurs seat can make it flukey as hell.
and beware of the boneo boys if you head to the pub after a kite.....
Merimbula will be lame this weekend. Maybe a crappy souwester on Friday but that will be about it. I would be bringing all the other toys.
That whole strip from McCrae to Rye is good in a northerly.
You need to be on top of your launching technique all along there. The beaches are not all that wide and have trees and stuff behind. You can find some decent spots to launch if you look.
Most people launch in the park at Rosebud then walk down through the trees onto the beach. In stronger consistent conditions it is easy. In lighter, gusty conditions it can be demanding.
There's a beach car park down towards Rye and the beach and grass behind is quite wide so you have a little more space to stuff up.
You have to be careful in summer and school holidays and stuff. The water and beaches are packed.
