Hi Kitesurf/Windsurf Experts,

we are travelling up north from Sydney to Cairns in July and we were wondering whether the wind conditions are good for kitesurfing at that time of the year?

A kitesurfer in Sydney told me that the wind season is over, so that mainly west and east winds are coming in in the winter. Is that also right for the northern part of NSW and Queensland?

It would be great if you can help me out! Thank you very much!

Cheers,

Daniel

the wind season is in full swing in north qld, from about central qld north. But sydney to southern queensland is the off season. You might get lucky and get somes good westerlies or even the odd southerly, but don't count on it. Our season doesn't get going untill october.

if you get to the gold coast and it blows southerly, be sure to go north of surfers paradise otherwise it gets too offshore. have fun...
