Sorry to all you folk on the east coast... qld is having enough rain to fill perths dams, pkra a no-result .. but meanwhile in WA, it's nuts.

Finally a wicked run of windy windy windy weather .. wed/thu/fri .. 25 knots+, sat/sun, 20, then yesterday, today and onwards .. looking at more 25+.

Yesterday we organised a downwinder, 2 quickly turned into 3, turned into 4 and we're off in the troopie to the start.

Plenty of excitement in the car .. I'd be down the beach at the end point, and the beach was like world war III .. deserted beach and sand streaming everwhere. Already one guy out doing huge boosts.

We pile out at of the car, and make it down the beach. It's so windy, the sand is nuts .. streaming sideways, instantly burying your board and bar.

The waves are looking awesome .. sure, it's beach break stuff, but with the strong breeze, it sets up some wicked walls, and we're all gagging to get out.

Kites are 5.6, 7's & 8.

And for the next hour we're in downwind heaven. Wicked walls, wicked wind, sun, board shorts. Yahoo's and laughs. One guy gets a bit ambitious and kite gets rolled .. back onto the beach to detangle and re-rig.

When we're all back on the beach, it's smiles all round and talk of it being one of the best downwinders to date. So many walls, and no tacking upwind! Bloke on the 8 is not happy as he was overpowered most of the time!

Hardest part is, it's on again today. Lots of oats for brekky...

Somedays, kitesurfing is the soul purpose of living...

Shot from the gopro... I live to spray buckets!

Anybody else got some stories?

Yew for the down winder! Read my post on the downwinder bus service thread, had a few troubles along the way from city beach to Brighton; kite rolled had to re rig, both board straps screws popped out. Got left with no wind infront of set waves, all in all was a good arvo was the last kiter out of the water about 745 pm, gonna do it all again tonight :)

Where did you do your downwinder and what time?

@Puppet...

Almost match fit, but hey .. there is no session sweeter than the sessions after being kept of the water for a while.

@wdric

haha.. nah, not rubbing it in .. I'm sure our weather will be troughed out soon enuf, and we'll be sitting on beach.

@Surfy31

We hit the briney about 4:30 at spot up north. Can't say or I'll get lynched.

There must have been some wicked sessions yesterday, wind & waves were up .. post some photies/yarns... anybody get spanked, kite ripped to shreds?

Yep today was sick, one of those days where it all comes together. A solid 25 knots, 3 mates, a dw'er, beach was quiet, the ability to race sections as fast as you like and seriously smash some lips and stick it even found myself hooting myself today, lol, it was one of those days.

Had what looked like some young euro dude on a twinnie and green Vegas tag along with us from swanny onwards. He was going nuts, smashin lips and boosting some crazy ass air! Was great to watch.

Had a crap day at work today but hit the beach, kite a sick day with good mates, got radical and it's all forgotten. Do it again tomoro.

Today reminded me why I love it here.

Ps. sweet pic, some good lip smackin.

Filthy hangtime this afternoon. Jumped over about 6 boogeyboarders without even looping the kite. At 25 points per boog that's 150 points. Sick.

I love WA and love Gero more than anywhere on earth...I'm day 6 on the trot kitesurfing...part of me is hoping it will stop, as I can no longer walk, and eveytime I close my eye I see waves waiting to be smashed...

Also, I think I may rapidly be heading for a good telling off at work as i keep cutting days shorter and shorter to get out on the water!!
