I'm struggling to pick it kiting in fronts. Either I rush down and pump up and the wind drops. Or I try and anticipate it and go larger. Tonight I went a 9 and got caught holding on for dear life as the squalls came in… still it's all good fun
Yup, mucked it up yesterday, started with the 7m, that ended up with a lengthy walk of shame, swapped to the 9m and was crapping my dacks so only stayed out for about ten minutes.
This afternoon, out on the 9m and got it trimmed perfectly, swallowed a bucket of water and will have sore ribs tomorrow, but it was one of my best sessions ever, I'm still smiling ![]()
Lit on my 7 for 3 hours today, about 11-2.
I brought 7,10,12 surfboard and twin tip, just to be sure.
Rain radar bro!
you can see the fronts coming in on rain radar. not sure ifyou have that in perth i presume so.
On the great days a three pack of longnecks in a cooler bag as well.
I love washing down that saltwater with a great Tooheys New as I pack my kite up in the sand.
Ahhh, bring on summer Nor Easters on Nine Mile Beach.
Sunday in Perth was amazing.
So many elevator style "triple-boosts" as you get hit by a gust while already airborne.
but when you do get it right.... sick
yesterday, 1-3, 7m, twin tip, dustin off the cobwebs.
cant wait for warm water 25knot 15km downwinders!
Kited Friday Saturday Monday an Tuesday on an 8 and surfboard and never had any issues. Apart from tearing the kite twice and tonight a site neck. I think I prefer winter with the waves we have right now!!!
Yeah how good has it been lately Jonopark ![]()
Another great arvo up our way today, most of the arvo was fine with good wind albeit a little bit gusty but a bit of a squall hit just before 4 (about 33 knots on the Ocean Reef graph) and the rain was stinging, then 5 minutes later it dropped out completely and half a dozen of us were doing the walk.
5 minutes later it was back to business as usual, with some great waves coming through.
Agreed. Kited 11 years, 8 without kitemare, had 4 in the last 5 sessions, including a ripped kite (Thanks Neil!!).
Scracthing my head on this one!
Wishy, thats what happens under a fuse. just try and keep it dry next time when someone asks you to dry it off ![]()
Tightlines that rain was f%#ked up and I would have been walking with you with my poo brown and green rebel. Ugly ass kite. And now we have good banks to surf. I think summer can wait!
Winter is typically more dangerous than summer, due to the gusty winds.
Just ask this "experienced" fellow (these things also don't help: no knowing how to self land, not having a safety that depowers the kite, not having a quick release that works, not using a quick release). This action is on quite old gear by today's standards but the message is still the same:
Action starts at 5:25
How good was yesterday in Perth. Was out 4-6pm perfect conditions on the 6m 80% of the time and good waves. More of that thanks ![]()
