Disclaimer , this has nothing to do with teaching or not at woodies B1 , I am an instructor but have never and will hopefully never have to teach at beach 1 .
This is about the placement of a sign on the edge of what is a learners beach which as an instructor and general kiter horrifies me .
Riding past on my bike for a bit of morning exercise and looked over and thought WTF ! where did that come from , you have got to be joking , who would put a sign right in the path of a beach full of kites launching and landing .
If for no other reason people should immediately politely complain / explain to the relevant people ( can someone who has been dealing with this lot please post the phone number ) that this is not the place to put this sign , what is wrong with up by the edge of the car park where you walk onto the beach ? .
The last thing anyone wants is for someone else to get injured by something so unnecessary as a stupid sign placement .
Seriously .....
You could have a sign painted on a 40 foot shipping container at B1 and Elemental will still ignore it.
I reckon that nice little pole cap should minimise damage to kites landing on the sign 
Cockburn Council - and the other authorities involved have been advised of the need for the non-kiting regulators of areas like this to have 'knowing' parties to advise of what makes for an effective & safe-for-all 'beach management plan' for ANY beach.
To the layman this sign would appear perfectly reasonable despite the potential dangers it involves. A perfect example of why they should use the offered resources of WAKSA and other 'interested parties' to assist with the ground rules of effective management.
Nothing wrong with the sign. I reckon the bans on teaching there were way past due. But the placement beggars the kiters imagination - esp when there are so many more appropriate & effective places to install them.
BTW: this sign does not forbid me to teach my nephew to kite on this beach (I'm not a commercial operator) think it would be a lot safer now that the trained professionals are out of the way!

I havent heard of anyone teaching there. I know our own & the 2 other legit schools have pulled out & I doubt that the cowboys would risk the fine.
The fact is that even the council doesnt have juristiction once you are in the water - whether you are a commercial operator or not. But you would have to be prepared to be nailed (& fined) to push that fine legal point. Insurance would also be doubtful if the council has this regulation in place. Chances are if anyone was to be injured it would be on the beach even if they exited their water lesson to get there
Without specific legislation the kiter-teaching-mate for free is (technically) OK anywhere, on any beach, where kiting itself isnt banned.
And Im pretty sure the locals & the rangers at beach 1 Woodies arent going to object to anyone helping out a mate - as long as you stay inshore & east of the launch beach. You will soon be told to wrack-off if you do the kite at 12 in the launch zone thing - no matter who you are.
I saw a person who i know to be a very experianced kiter misjudge things on the beach and get dragged exactly where this feckin digusting sign is they would have been (excuse the pun) poleaxed if this had been there.
Also i wonder if the sign applies to the whole bay not just the beach.!!!! Because there are quite a few, errrrrr, large commercial operators in the bay.

Signs are for car parks
Being the very friendly observant person that I am - the sign may blow over in the sand and find itself up the pathway more

Just tell some local scum that if they ripped it out they could probably take it to the scrap metal yard and get a fair bit of coin from it. If they are stupid enough (chances are high) the sign will be gone pretty quick. Or lets be honest, you could just knock it over yourself, its not like they are stopping anyone else doing illegal stuff down there.
There is one at B2 in a similar position, noticed it walking back to the car last night.
now i can bury my car keys and take a bearing of that sign so i can find the things , now only if i new where i left my car
