who doesn't? If it wasn't for daylight savings being voted down, there'd be a lot more time to kite after work.
ah we live in a backward old place.

I had a chat with my boss and I changed my working hours;

Not good enougth.

Asuming you have a regular job from 9-5 or even if its a 12h shift you should still be able to go out for a kite if you really wanted to, when the wind is up.

I work a roster 7 on 7 off leaving for work at 5.30 am and getting home at 8.00pm. kite all week on my week of and if its not windy where i live i travel down the coast to kite normaly, and i normaly kite 2-3 times a week when im rostered on i only get around 1 hr on the watter and have to pack up in the dark but who cares i still get to kite as much as i can.

Show some dedication and get out there.

yeah, it's when you get truly addicted, that you loose sense of rational judgement on when it's ok to leave work to go kiting... and when you see the leaves moving on trees and the adrenaline kicks in you loose sense of responsibility towards keeping your job... i just hope there aren't any addicted Surgeon kiters, or Pilots...

but if you are not at that stage yet, you can always try
"i've got family emergency gotta leave early", or
"my wife is ill, gotta pickup kids from school", or
"i have terrible headache, gotta go", or
"got appointment with a trady to install new A/C",
and the list goes on...

(just keep a log of which excuses you already used )

I work during the week 8-4:30 Mon-Thurs and 12 finish on Fridays. I kite a minimum of 2 days during the week Mon-Thurs if there's wind.

yep, you're not the only one . I tend to work back when there's no wind and get off earlier when it's on, only prob is there always seems to be something come up when it's pumping.

Checking the wind now on the east coast ENE 14knts, what a tease! For those with a desk job swellnet has a pretty good task bar app for current wind/swell and customisable alerts when certain conditions are reached.

Yep, work full time and live in a state without daylight savings. Further, some fool put Brisbane so close, yet so far from the beach.

I hear ya honey. It's been ball busting lately and I had to verbally biatch slap my boss today (really). Still didn't get to kite tho so it wasn't even enjoyable taking the tossbag apart.

One kn powerball and I am following the breezes forever.

Still seems tres flaky on the west coast most day to me tho so hopefully chrissy hols will be crankin.

Jeesoos Crikey allmighty - do I miss DLS. I'd love to kick every tool that voted it down right in the jewels.[}:)]

Best of luck gettin some breeze fellas.

10pm posting funkster, I trust you're still at work.
BTW I had a 3-4pm sesh before a clients xmas drinks, I can't see why you'd want DLS and have to waiit an extra hour for the SB to arrive.

Sorry Slacko, this thread is for working kiters only.. You have no validity here.

I want your job.. Or whatever passes for a job anyway.

If there is some wind I will be tryin to get out. Had some major stacks early in the DW the other day. Just too cream-crackered from overwork. Dropped my kite 3 times in the 1st 1-2 kms!! Haven't dropped it that many times in a year!?

Got it together eventually and smashed it a bit. Great stress relief.

You goin out tomoz? Could be 12m weather?

You're lucky. I don't even have a window! But I do get to travel via Botany Bay every afternoon on my way home so if there's wind I can get a kite session in.

Start work at 8:00 am. There's less traffic and the drive in is quicker.
Finish at 4:00 pm
Arrive at the beach at 5:00
On the water by 5:30
Finish whenever you want. Usually by about 7:00.
Home at 7:30.
Bed by 10:00
Repeat

The days are long enough to start this in October.

Our record is 10 consecutive days kiting.

I've tried the pre-work sessions in winter but it's all a bit of an effort. Better to just take a day off when it's good.

I drive in to gridlock at around 07:30 for a 08:00 start, then spend all day counting down the hours to 16:00hrs gridlock. Pay tolls every couple Kms to wait in gridlock.

Average speed = 12kmh
Average cost per 1km = $0.20

If I get to the beach (17:20) and there's no wind, I'm about ready to slit my wrists.
If there's wind, all is good and I take the gamble another day.

I take no lunch break and say I'm working from home when I leave.

BoneDoc: It's looking good today.

I've been driving between 30min and 1 hour a day depending where I stay to work. 5 days a week teaching and then marking and all of that after school.

Next year I'll be driving 5min to Wello High to teach and 5min to the beach!!!!

6 weeks holidays as we speak... mMmm =] yay

I work temp as a labourer. I will work for about three weeks, save a couple grand then just dedicate a month or two to kiting. That's the plan at the moment anyway.
