Hey all. My Bandit Dos 10m just had a close encounter of the tree kind. Is it worth repairing? It's a 2009 and I would need to replace an entire panel plus repair the leading edge and replace/patch the bladder. Kite has had a good amount of use but no repairs up until now. Any idea of cost to repair as I'm guessing I wouldn't get much for it and don't want to spend $350 on repairs only to sell it for the same amount. I can keep it for spares as I have an 8m and am on my way to pick up a B3 I tracked down new. Any thoughts?
I had a 16m kite which was ripped in half had it fixed they did a great job and it cost $120 to fix .
send it to monti he will quote if all else fails it will only cost ya freight and a kite going is much better than one collecting dust in the corner of the shed too eventually get trown out one day
It's highly likely the panel won't need replacing. Always your best bet is to take or send your kite to your nearest repairer and ask their opinion.
It cost me about $120 to fix a kite that was essentially split from edge to edge (no bladder damage though -can you fix that with tape?).
If you're really poor/cheap/bored you can do it yourself for around $50. I fixed one years ago (due to lack of $$s) and it was in 2 pieces. Had to borrow the mother inlaw's sewing machine, get 2 colours of sail tape, thread, needles, and double sided tape for lining things up. It was a learning experience, took about 40hrs with the wife (to be) helping.
We must have done ok as it flew great after, didn't lose it's mojo at all and the repair was bombproof. Used it for 2 more years then sold it on as a cheapy.
Had thought of sending pics to Moti but the kite has had a few seasons good use. As well as the panel, the leading edge is shredded as is the bladder. Have just tracked down a new in bag B3 for a real bargain, so not desperate to fix this one as I'd just be selling it anyway. Anyone upgraded from a B2 to B3? Are they pretty much the same? Had heard a comment that the B2 had more grunt?
