I ride a surfboard, and a nine metre.
Once its over 20 kts im overpowered.
I can get going and upwind in 10kts.
Im 65 kilos, wringing wet and tall like frodo baggins.
Should my next kite be a 7m or 5m?
Thanks.![]()
get a 7. i don't think you'll get much use out of a 5- it doesn't often get over 20 knots around here.
that's a problem I'd like to have (or a bit of it at least.).
Is it contagious? Can I have some please...
I could easy lend you 10 kilos......
I wanted to get old and wise...instead I'm just old and wide![]()
On a serious note a wet wetsuit adds a bit of weight and reducing the planing area of your board will give you a bigger top end.
haha thought about this a fair bit haveing one of my of the crazy thoughts was ballast!
not sure if it would work or not, a back pack of fresh water probably one of those water proof sealing ones say half full with 10l of fresh water = 10kilos
fresh water being less dense the salt floats and with the added air pocket in the other half of the pack you could have and adjustable ballast pack that wont drown you
also being more top heavy would give you more leverage on the board edge
bahaha
Get a 6, or a 5. Too much overlap with a 7, and when its nuking you will be too powered on a 7. I love my 6, almost use it more than my 10!!!
6m or a really good 7m. A few years ago most 6m kites were pulsey angry bees but nowadays designers have learnt to slow them down and vastly improve their wind range. At 68 kg, if it's too windy for my 6m then it's not really safe (40 knots+). I can get a 7m going quite happily on a surfboard at 20 knots and 25-35 knots is the sweet spot for a 6m.
