Every time I watch home and away and there is an epic Nor easter and good waves there are no kiters out .Whats goin on ?
Firstly WTF are you doing watching Hone & Away. There are as I use to be one and it's a great place to kite on NE. I guess it all depends on the time of day they are filming.
Shh it's a secret spot... ![]()

Firstly.. oh wait someone beat me to that... ![]()
The northern end gets quite gusty due to the headland, and given it's location you have to be very unlucky to see the spot busy with kiters.
Parking is pay by the hour though, and that's a bit annoying.
hey just out of interest, are you allowed to kite in Barrenjoey. Many years ago when I lived in Sydney we use to Windsurf in the bay and Palm Beach was my first venture on the windsurfer into the waves. It was always windy in summer at Palm Beach and paid parking was also a pain back then. FYI, we still do not pay for parking at WA beaches, got to love that..!
On the kite now and love it sik...
The day I have to pay for parking at Newcastle beaches will be the same day the commission dirty druggy dero houses at dicko get set on fire aswell as ncc building!
Hey Munga. Yeah you can still kite on the flat side at Palmy. Really good but can be gusty on a NW. If you get a good swell and a good NE at Palmy it 's sick. Good crew that I use to kite with up there. JB and the late Big Wave Dave. But the wind called me in the West and been hear nearly five years now.
Oh Jack, be careful what you dob yourself in for on these posts.![]()
But we sure do look after our housing commission brothers well don't we.

Palm beach was the first place i ever saw kiteboarding in real life (not on TV). This was back in 2001. I had heard of it and always though it sounded like fun.
So i sat on the beach and watch with interest a guy doing it for awhile getting some pretty big air but to be honest it looked quite ungraceful so it turned me off it!
....for a few years anyway. ![]()
