Hi guys,
Got back into riding this season and have been loving it sick again. I am super happy with all my rolls and general riding. I have been landing some front to blinds and Ralley to Blinds in 12-15 knots on my 12.

As soon at the wind picks up around 20 I start getting hammered! I think I must be under rotating on some occasions however on others I literally end up face planting....

To be fair I have been riding in relatively chopping conditions and fairly powered however to keep getting eaten!

Most of the “how to” Videos look to be in pretty light conditions. My neck and body would be appreciative of any feedback. Cheers

Hi James.
Yes it sound like you are not getting round to blind enough. On flat water you can land OK without getting all the way round because you can spin the last bit on the water, if you are not all the way round. When its choppy doing this can often trip a rail. Commitment is the answer. Pull harder to blind to get a faster rotation, so that you turn more than 180deg and are landing going towards the kite, with you weight over the board.
Choppy conditions also make it hard to get good pop. Pick your spot to take off from. I find it easier coming into shore between any swell that is running.
Hope this helps

Smaller kite
Kite on slow settings
Use a C style kite
Depower
Bigger board
Bindings
Go Bigger
Ride faster with more power
Meditate
Now get AMPED and throw down hard!

So much of riding in more powered conditions is your state of mind. If you have any kind of mental block or predisposed fear of crashing - guess what is likely to happen?

Go out on your next session with a refreshed state of mind, get a amping tune in your head, visualise yourself landing these tricks in sick conditions! Visualisation off the water has to be the biggest contributing factor to the improvement of my riding and a bigger set of balls!

As previously mentioned the kite has more power to hold down so you have to go into blind tricks with more speed, determination to l get around to blind and pointing further down wind!

Now go out and tear, shred, crush!

Cheers for that.

Sci, Smaller kite is not an option, but I loved your reply.

Bring on the pain and commitment tomorrow!

Cheers

in lighter winds you dont need the strength to pull yourself into blind so you can just simply do a railey or what ever and just spin and it will work out ok.
This unfortunately makes you skip the step of learning to pull in hard with BOTH hands before spinning the backside 180.

In stronger stuff, 20 + when you're properly lit you should always make an exaggerated pull with BOTH hands into your front hip before spinning the backside 180. this will make you spin faster and further as well as generate less tension during landings.
