Has anyone kited South Africa? Are the blowflies as bad as they sound on the TV or is it just because the socceroos stink

We beat the Germans twice at their national sport. It's only fair that they get to wind something.

I was right into and practicing my dive and ankle clutch for weeks. Alas i ran out of magic spray and just can't seem to get interested anymore.

Hope the Ozzies do awright (let's be honest they are utterly outclassed) but it's about as exiting as watching green n gold paint dry.

you know, i hate to put the boot in when your down

sometimes things happen for a reason and its called karma

you guys prolly didnt bother to watch the aussie - NZ friendly match a few weeks back as it would have been a predicable easy win

but ill tell ya what.. the amount of tackles involving feet jumping at the opposing players shins, legs and even face was astonishing.. sometimes they even went for the ball.. even more unbelivable was that no-one was red or yellow carded

anyways bring on the rugby world cup

Sad to say but the aussies are going to be lucky to score 1 goal this whole WC. Ghana is an excellent team and the serbs knocked off Germany.. No Cahil, a 1 legged Kewell, an out of form Kennedy= 1 pissed off Lucas..

Bring back Dukes and use the ol' route 1 strategy with a 1 - 9 formation. Worked well in the past. Australia doesn't have the skill or class for tippy tappy stuff yet. We'll be lucky to get up against Ghana.

Ok, I take it back....the Aussies finally played a great game last night, they dug deep like men and made themselves proud.

As far as the world cup goes, I say it is the cup of the small people and small countries so far....Maradonna, Messi, Slovenia, Switzerland, Uruguay.

The rest of the lot are true to form.........the English, the French, the Germans.......no passion, no power....and that Ronaldo should not even be started for Portugal next game...............the umpiring has a lot of weakness too.

As far as the world cup goes, it is the best........imagine being watched by 1.3 Billion people, call it boring, but who gets the chance to show off in front of such an audience.........no other sport comes close.

And I pray and hope that the great Kiwi god is on side tonight and the Italians get the friggen shock of their lives......because the Italians are some very old meat.

Don't know how anyone can be proud of a draw. For the first 5 mins Kewell and some of the other aussies were diving all over the place searching for free kicks, disgraceful. Then there was a questionable red card against kewell leading to a goal, the yellow card stud up late challenge from behind from the opposition (should have been red going on Cahill preceedent). Then of course the Vuvu's. It's good to see the world come together in sport though. I find the umpring and sportsmanship showed by most players a little off putting though.

The biggest problem is that the red n yellow cards hold far too much sway over the outcome of the game. The number one tactic is to reduce the number of opposition.

Most teams are taking frankly pathetic sit down to pizz dives, ankle and head clutches, writhing in agony (when the replay celarly shows no-one within coo-ee) then after the card comes out the critically injured wannabe actor springs to life like he's had a blast of a defribulator!!

Despite the red card for fakers I am yet to see a single faker sent off yet most games seem to be decided byt the ref's cards and most of the time the injury is fake or extremely over exagerated.

Pathetic and makes (for me) even a good game utterly unbearable.

"Kn get up ya kn faking kn w@nker!! Fk this anything is better than this bollocks!" My exact words as I changed channels after the last dive I saw where 'critically injured' Serb player sprang up after the card came out (for the unlucky opponent) after he had his face barely brushed in a genuine header contest. Serb sheila couldn't hide the smile on his Bacardi breezer luvin face. You'd think a kn Maori doorman had let him have a couple of Glasgow kisses or sumpin.

Any player that is stretchored off then springs back onto the pitch in a minute should be banned from the next game.

It's not even possible to play the game fairly with the readiness to send off and change the equaton.

Until 'soccer' becomes a sport played by athletes - not fit nancy actors - I won't be goin out of my way to watch, coz i like to watch sport - not theatre sports.

Great game to play - but I'd rather watch the paint dry than having to endure viewing another fake writhing soap opera.

Kn girls blouses have more backbone.

BTW - if the AFL umps made so many dodgy decisions and ultimately resulted in the entire game being at their whim - instead of seeking to genuinely win on goals and superior skill - I wouldn't be able to watch that either.

@getfunky:
Yeah the referees were instructed to be more picky than usual in the worldcup, and the one from the German-Serbia game was for sure the most extreme example. Whole Germany is p!ssed about that dude, especially the red card for Klose was ridiculous.

I agree there should be red cards for faking, not just yellow, but it is still a great game with only a minor acting component.

@colinwill:
Don't get me started on that epileptic version of baseball mate..

Sorry Knut - I reckon the faking is the most dominant and decisive part of the game in this WC. Sure there are some amazing goals (and saves) but they are in the back seat this time around.

I have previously stayed up at ridiculous hours with the hot cocoa, but I seriously just cannot stomach watching this cup cr@p.

BTW - Have not enjoyed watching the Ozzies attempt to use the same tactics one iota but hey - it's working a treat for everyone else so they have to really. Sad.

On a lighter note - one of the best moments in this lot has been seeing a player cop one right in the Jatz crackers and hobble of with the trainer attempting to use magic spray on the affected area.

Must have been the only bloke on the pitch with a pair.

Ideally the ref would see the faking and issue a yellow card for that..
But one thing that is arguable as well is how the refs were selected for the WC: Only one referee per country is allowed, so you have refs e.g. from the Seychelles with limited international experience.

I treat the ref like the grass, sun shine etc..........it is about playing the game, and real athletes get on with it.......that's what makes them great.

Just love those Kiwis and Aussies at the mom........not to mention the Swisskies, Japs, Argentinians........esp. Mr. Marodonna.

I love it all the dives bad ref's everything, why get so uptight about it? it adds to all the chaos and a fever-pitch 2 hours of serious skill. the low scores also make it so good when finally one is sunk, thats why everybody gets so crazy
