hey, converted my bar a bit after i purchased it. the 2:1 was a bit too heavy and the kite would over react when doing spins loops ect. did the conversion and its fantastic waaaaay less bar preasure and steerings fine( need to put in a bit more but i recon its better anyway). this was on my omega but i think your revolver would have the same effects.

I have a 9m omega, similar to a revolver. I mainly use it in 1:1. It has light bar pressure compared to 2:1, more grunt, reacts faster, jumps better and is just all round a better, funner kite. That being said 2:1 has much more depower on the bar and probably has 4-5 knots better top end. So I use it in 2:1 when overpowered or in really gusty wind.

Relaunch in both set ups is a peice of piss. The main difference is that in 2:1 if you hot launch(directly downwind), the extra depower on the bar makes it much less aggressive and you don't get yanked out of the water.

When your bar is rigged 2:1 if you move your bar the back lines move twice as far as if it were rigged 1:1.

It's as simple as that - you are effectively changing gearing so to speak just like a manual car.

So if you rig your bar 1:1 you will have half of the de-power you had when 2:1, as the distance your back lines can move is halved in relation to the bar throw, and there is less bar pressure for a given movement of your arm as you are moving the back lines half as far.

Personally I don't like 2:1 as you have more pulleys to block up with sand at times (like when you put your bar on the sand) and the bar pressure always seems to be too much. If you're worried about depower on those windy days a good upgrade to you bar is the naish smart bar upgrade which gives your bar a lot more throw, and simplifies a lot of bars which have a complicated depower system.

So to answer your question if you change your bar to 1:1 you will have less bar pressure, the kite will be slower to turn for the same bar movement as if you were using 2:1, and you will have less depower. Try it out and see just make sure it's not blowing it's guts out - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

1:1 is loads better... if you find you don't have enough depower the smart loop is the way to go... ~$100

Yeah, go for 1:1. I have an 07 Naish Boxer SLE that came with 2:1 setup. Once I changed it to 1:1, life became a lot less tiring! You do get more depower 2:1 but it is bloody hard work because you have the trailing edge luffing all the time.

I know with the Naish 07 bar you can lengthen/shorten the back lines at the bar ends for heavier days or to suit your preferred arm placement. As you get better, you tend to rely less on the kite depower and more on stomping your back foot to "put the brakes on" and push the kite forward to the edge of the wind window.
