I've never ridden them but all the guys i know on them are really happy. hope little bit of info is of some help.
cheers
excellent kites. ever since the 06 sonic (arguably the first decent bow kite) they've just been getting better and better. the design hasn't changed hugely from the first V-sonic because they're just so damn good. one of the largest wind ranges i've ever seen on a kite was an 8m V-sonic. rideable at 15 knots for a light rider, but manageable even in 35 for the same rider. boosting machines!
i ride a 2007 GK trix at the moment and loving it. however im finding that every time i crash the kite now the cable ties pop off the one pump and the whole thing deflates...
but its still super quick in the air.
Hi all,
yeah there's never been alot of hype or slick marketing pimping around GK. Its definitely a gourmet boutique style brand loved by those who ride them, unknown by the masses.
The new 2010s are looking awesome and Im sure they will be, GK hasnt ever brought a dud kite to market. Mat Pendle was designing for Wipika in the early 1990s; he knows his stuff. I can't wait to get them in my hands. They are coming very soon.
Big Kev is excited! Can't wait for these kites to come in. Love these kites Jerry. I only have one problem, I haven't sold my 2009 11m to make way for the 2010, anyone interested let me know, its going cheap and it's still in great condition. (cause Alex at Stonker has already ordered me a new 11m and its on its way)
Quite a few of us are flying GK down here too and I'm really enjoying the 09 trix. It's a good all round kite - gives plenty of hang time and is great for waves/wakestyle. Looking forward to seeing what Matt has come up with in the next generation!
HAHAHAHA love the single point deflation.
thanks for the help i think ill get some better tube.
what are these clips? some other form of attachment than the cable ties?
and its hard not to crash it. im just starting with rolls and i get confused very easy![]()
The cable tie clips are a small plastic clip that you thread the cable tie through prior to clamping. It is about 20mm wide and it is threaded between both ties (that is on the valve, and on the inflation hose) this completely stops the hose from pulling off valve. I used these clips on my 07 and didn't have a problem ever again. If you contact Alex at Stonker I'm sure he would post some out to you. It only takes about 30mins (total) to install on every strut valve.
