Hi i have a black kiteboard wich i sanded accidently so does anybody know about any polish to help get color back??
Thanks!!
When you wet the board in water, does the colour come back? And after it dries looks like the above?
It depends what sand paper you used and how deep the scratches are but Car cutting back compound should get it looking better
might have to give it a quick go with 1200 wet and dry first if it has deep scratches
Hi yes if i get it wet it looks normall colourfoul so i need a layer of something to get the color shining back!
and i use 600 sandpaper and does urethane will work?
or would a clear lacquer do it??
Thanks
I know you are going for the look under the board, but if you polish it smooth, your board will stick to the water more and will slow it down!
If you leave it as is, you may find it is a bit quicker?
Cheers,
Luke.
if you sanded it with 600 you have to get sand grade a lot finer ( first 800 and then 1200) after use a buffing compound( i use 3m perfect it ) to get gloss back, it depends on how damaged the surface is . Have you gone through into the glass fibres or only gloss? also depends on weather you are using machine to buff and sand.
if you have deep scratching it may have to be resprayed (many 2 k clears or polyeurethanes around. Jamdfingr. if there is no gloss on board water sticks to the board and creates drag it is slower i think.
As the other guys have said... It all depends on the damage to the board, and the depth of the scratches..
I would try some fine grit wet and dry and try to gently Rub the deep scratches down..
Don't rub down too far into the graphics of the board. Just enough to rub down the significant scratches. Then apply a wet sealer, like a fiberglass sealer.
Try it on a small test patch first. Take your time...
the scratches werent very deep, only over the gloss there isnt any more scratches only the problem is the color went away so i need a spray or paint to get it color back
as i say when i wet it it look nice and shinny but when it dries it looks like that so any sudjest of any spray to use so i can get it shining back like epoxy, polyurethane, urethane, or lacquer??????
Thanks

get a buffer pad, first a hard foam then the soft foam one and some compound. use gumption or a mix of bicarb and soda and water if you haven't any compound.
if that does nothing , wetsand to 1000 and get some septone estapol in a spraycan. 2coats should do it. don't buy 'fiddly bits' or some cheap stuff from the hard ware- major orange peel/swearing/acetone/cleanup effect waiting for you there.
i did some surfboards 2years ago, they still glossy as!
