Thoughts...!?

Wowow. He is ripping!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed at last years Mambo Ian was wearing booties, couldn't of been due to water temp!

Will booties and boardies just look creepy?

Mate if anything is cheating in this situation it's the 100ft trapeze safety line he's shackled into...

Have you tried wearing them. It's not easier, I wore some in Peru to make getting in and out of the water easier but it took some getting used to riding with them. Much prefer bear feet

Agree with you there 100% but I know guys that use them because they grip the board better.
In-fact a mate of mine spiral-fractured his leg surfing (which is very unusual) and they said it was due to the extra grip on the board the bootie gave...

In fact I wore mine today for the first time (straps are worn, cutting my feet when I edge, so needed some protection). Was weird. Less connected to the board, less feedback. But I soon got dialed in, and it didn't make any difference really.

Edit. Ah, you mean when strapless. Then i don't call it cheating, I'd call it easier. Whatever works.

Yep I will agree with you after about ten days in pacasmayo I had got used to them and it did grip better but still wasn't a big fan of the feeling. I actually used a pair of vibram five finger shoes. Thought having the toes separated would feel better.

Careful, those seperate toes shoes can do some serious damage to your toes. The grip is so good, there have been dislocated toe injuries. Many of the surf boots now will seperate the big toe in terms of fit but keep the sole as one platform (or have the big toe stitched to the rest of the toes). This way you dont slip and slide in your boot and have less chance of injury.

Ive worn them in places like Gnaraloo. Grip us great but hate the process of putting them on and getting sand in them etc.

Been wearing them for years. Saved me from many cuts, scrapes, punctures and stubs.

maybe want to strap your ankles as well for the not so perfect landings
looks EXTREME
booties might just hold your feet together after a few hot landings.

I've heard Ian has really ugly feet and is quite sensitive about it, so he hides them away for no one to see

That video is shot at Jalama Beach, Northern California. Water temp probably 10 degrees c.

To experience what that means if youve never left Perth [water temp 18c in late winter] take the iced water out of the fridge and stick your foot in it for 15mins. That pain is what Rebstock [yes that's not a girl] and Alldredge would feel without booties.

So why was he wearing booties in NSW of the month November. Most people were wearing boardies, water temp around 21*C.

Thread was tongue-in-cheek, not a serious topic!
