guys hi,
I am planning my wedding for next year and I have given the mission of finding a suitable location for all to enjoy
10 to 15 people to travel between jun and july, some surfers, some kiters, some with family. Looking for non-budget/surf camp but neither super luxury accom.
any ideas, advice or suggestions?
cheers
P
Can't be done, no women with a wedding is going to let you do what you want. This is all about them and if she has aggreed to use the words wedding, kiting and fun in the same sentance she is up to something. Be careful you are being lined up with something that could take a few years to come about, but it will.
It may pay to say no now and bank those browny points.
Just stay calm and don't do any rash descisions, speak to your mates if you still have them.
How about Wedding Cake island off Coogee in Sydney? ![]()

Just don't tell her that she will have to paddle out there ![]()

dude, she kites and surfs herself... as well as more of our mutual friends!! but she also wants the dress and staff....
I can see some jealousy in Hardcarves reply there.. man.. you don't know this person? his wife to be might very well have been the one coming up with the whole idea!?
what about new caledonia? or fiji? there are some deff reasonably priced flights to fiji at the moment. tropical paradise, known for watersports and wind. I don;t know about the season though but surely you can check that out somewhere. sounds like an awesome wedding mate.
How about Nomatu ??? If they can get the wedding catering together, then everything else is perfect there ...
lol... not imaging anything. her Xmast present was a new surf board!... all those ours teaching her are paying back. But now when we go to the beach she is the first in the water and if the wind changes I get to the guilty
Stay at Port Douglas. Have the wedding and reception at Thala Lodge. Once formalities are done with kite at 4 Mile. Head out to The Low Isles for kiting, hire Sailaway cat for the trip out. If you are cashed up, do it all on Lizard Island.
Mate she's definitely a keeper!! I found one just like her 18 years ago, we windsurfed together for years, engaged in Maui, honeymooned in Maui. Most holidays have revolved around wind and water locations and now live 20m from the beach at her suggestion!
We even bought our first kites together!! Unfortunately due to health issues she no longer kites but rings or texts me as soon as there are kites in the air or the wind is up. And yes she is definitely a girl.......![]()

Since you say non budget
Check this place out
Has a few surf breaks close by and they are setup for surfing
Not sure about kiting, but is has a small sand patch just to the east of the main resort which would be a good launch site in a typical SE trade wind, ese would still be doable any more east and a water lauch would probly be required.
KIte about 1.5 -2k up wind and you got some really good options by the looks on google earth.
I have kited The beach house, but i reckon this could be better.

Balian, Bali away from the crowds(****hole) of Kuta all bases covered around that time of year

I second Mauritius, but you may find yourselves at opposite ends of the island. Best surfing is around the South and South West corner whilst the best kitesurfing is around the windy North East corner. Fantastic hotels all over the island, almost all of which cater for weddings and honeymoons.
