That sucks, think you asked me if it was mine for an older core GT.

I was thinking of taking a TSA travel lock with me and locking mine to the fence.

Happend to me twice, I think its stupid local kids, you usually find the bag dumped some where along the path once they figure its got nothing of value in it.

Actually, does anyone out there have some good practical ideas about security of keys/wallet/gear?

Must admit I'm starting to get the heebeejeebies now.

and as dazza has proclaimed I would hate to think ahat I'd do if I caught someone, rather avoid this situation at all costs.

because as you know, you'd be the one charged. Especially if they tripped over the bag they were trying to steal....(christ society and its laws are a mess, well done lawyers)

maybe we can get a plan of action and get some good out of this bad.

I don't kite at the trouble spots for these thieving farkers, but I reckon it wouldn't take much to set up a sting or two.... Deal out a clip or two to the head and it might just bring about an understanding of what won't be tolerated. Rather than violence, something truly humiliating to the offenders might be the way to go

Like posting a picture after making them pose with a windsurfing boom in their hands? Something like that you mean?

Oooh Eppo, way to invite your red thumb buddies to the party... Maybe something like gaffa taping them naked to a light pole on West Coast Hwy with 'I'm a thief' spray painted on them in big Fluoro letters..?

leave your car unlocked, but with nothing in it of value, maybe leave the window down to avoid it getting smashed. A friend from Midland say they do that after they had their window smashed a few times.

put your key into one of those combo key locks.

What's a combo key lock? Thing is leave it unlocked they might steal the car. Then again they would break the window and do it anyhow.

Only joking on the wind surf gag, only joking.

If the goons are targeting kite surfers, it's probably not a brilliant idea to publish on here how you store your keys.
I am spooked to, when in Perth...

Happened to me once as well a few years back, the the guys that are stealing the bags are absolute low life scum and it pisses me off.

However if people keep leaving phones, wallets, sunnies, car keys, camera's etc in their kite bags they will keep getting snatched.

Try to leave as little as possible (i.e. nothing but your pump) in your bags and they will get sick of it eventually.

They won't get sick of trying as long as they know that even IF the cops get involved, the worst they can expect is a smack on the wrist..

Like I said, get a few of you to sit out a sesh or two, hide out and catch the bastards red handed. Again, violence doesn't have to feature, just come up with some creative ways of discouraging them from returning...

How about, if someone catches these scum, we tie them to one the shark beacons or one of the buoys just off Pinnaroo to distract the sharks while we're out having a great time kiting?

For Pinnaroo we just need two blokes, one hidden on the car park and the other one on the sand dunes watching the bags!

Lets catch these dogs and take them for a "walk" on the beach!

This crap is one of the reasons I left Brazil, it happens all the time and it would be really sad if here end up going into the same path!

Who is up to organize something?

Extremely witty comment which really underlines your cosmopolitanism. That's full on racist, I hope you know that. Weak.

What are you on about ? It's common knowledge that Pinnaroo is hot spot for some, with not so mainstream tendencies. WTF has this got to do with racisim ? J

James and SugerQ will remember about 10 years ago the car park at Pinnas always had a few cars park up, with unusually well groomed young men in them, they were touting for business in the toilets there. While it did not go well with the image of a family beach, I always felt my car was safe parked next to them.
Then the police got involved (maybe they did not have council permits or insurance) Cops ran a couple of stings, even caught some of their own off duty.
Now the thieves have moved in, and the cops do nothing they just leave it to the ranger and he is more interested in raising revenue for the council in parking tickets.
I recon if we can catch one of these theiving bastards we tie him up, have a whip round and pay one several of the rent boys to have some bum fun with him.

If you want to call Ray out mabe try homophobic????? The duneyboys were all races and colours, just because they like to go to browntown, doesnt make him racist or homophobic. Ray made an observation, and quite a funny one. Hiding belly down in the dunes might be interpreted as presenting.

The original poster implied that the Brazilian dude and his friends are thieves, that's not calling a spade a spade unless it ist scientifically proven that all Brazilians are thieves. Since this is not the case, the comment is full on racist. Sorry, no alternative interpretation possible.
