New to kiteboarding here. Wondering if there is a difference if I take a IKO instructor lesson ($200ish for 2hours) or a ex-pro giving lessons (cheaper).
I want to get up and running pretty fast, riding by the first lesson. Is this being too ambitious?
Kiteboarding may look thrilling and exhilarating and it is but you really have to slow down and spend quality time with either. Don't be in a hurry. You need to respect the wind and learn slowly. I have been kiting for 3 years and I reckon I still learn each and every session. Just remember one mistake and you could really injure yourself or even others around you. Take your time and enjoy. Follow the book. Read lots and learn.![]()

You dont need lessons my trolling friend. 30kts and a 12 should have ya ripping downwind in no time.....
Thats not trolling!
However;
I advocate that with every new kite purchase ( it will need to be IKO tested approved and certified for an additional but minimal fee of say $200) The rider, regardless of experiance will need to undergo a mandotary 2 hour IKO supervised instructional and practical course to familiarise themselves to the new handling characteristics of the potentially lethal weapon about to be unleashed on the beach. Yeah, say roughly $200ish (on top of the kite certification)
It's probably a case of the more you pay the quicker you learn. There's good reason why the standard lesson package is 3 two hour sessions.
thanks for the tips everyone with something usefull to say, and to the other who had nothing to say: god you are lame, shutup and finish washing car
No time noob, have you seen the graphs for the goldy? More wind than you will know how to deal with for a looooonnngggg time. You can wash my car while im kiting if ya want... 10 bucks towards your lessons in it for ya....
