Hey just wanna ask u experienced people a question that maybe stupid to u guys! but anyway is it a stupid idea to try kiteboard using a standard training kite! it has a fair bit of pull probably enough to get me up on the board! has anyone out there tryed this? whats ya thoughts?
Cheers Brad
I used a 3m air rush trainer in the waves once/ 28 knots kinda thing, I was just being a d@&$ playing around. It is possible.
My son has done it with a 2 meter and only weighed 32kgs and was on a boggie board so if yours is only 2 meter i would say you need at least 25 knots or more just to get going . You will only be able to do down winders as they dont have enough power to cut across the wind and you have too fly it fast and in the figure eight patten that is just to ride down wind . He did it and it was posted on you tube "trainer kite who would think " go have a look . Was cool . He has a 4 meter dna and is going great on it .
I have a 3.5m Hydra and cant wait to give it a go on the water. 15 - 20 kts on land is about its limit and at 25 kts it is crazy powerful.
It's difficult to ride with an untrained kite, although, if you find one with natural aptitude you may have some luck.
I have a 2m trainer kite witch i use in the park with a skate board for kicks ,I was thinking of my 9 foot Mal and 2m kite on a lake as well . Having the extra floatation of a 9 footer means the wind does not have to be 25+ for it to work. The main problem is the lines, the 2 lines that came with my trainer kite were about half the size of normal kite lines and keep ed on snapping in strong winds .I replaced my lines with some of my old lines from an old bar of mine from a 9m kite .
