Got your attention , insurance is going up on january 1st to $125. it would be great if everyone considered what a great spot we kite at , and did the right thing , by insuring yourself against injuring an innocent bystander , and losing your assets . Lets make it safe there so the next generation of kiters has also got somewhere to kite ,that includes all the foreigners as well, if you cant afford insurance you shouldnt be kiting . Also those that need rescuing in the river run out, the kite is not included, throw the kite or no rescue , you messed up, it shouldnt be anyone elses disaster. Now children lets respect others and kite safely.
lol - Er don't you think it would be smarter for a person being taken out to sea to hold onto that big colourful floaty thing?
was kiteing yesterday cruiseing along in surf minding my own bees knees when a swimmer pops up and the board fin slices his ear off .where does that leave me as a AKSA member what am i covered for and what are the repercussions ? only slight damage to board ![]()
hypothetically speaking only was just wondering if it did happen where would i stand ? thought board damage was a give away![]()
If your that dumb to kite near people swimming you deserve what you get. If your that dumb to swim near a kiter, well its his own fault.....
^^^^mate was after an answer as to what would happen as a AKSA member, is a resonable question. if i wanted to here from a monkey i'll visit the zoo .now can anyone provide an answer? thanks
was thinking that if the forum has a large % of AKSA members that an answer would have been readly avaliable as i have read previous threads and has been clear as mud ,a'm interested as just joined resently . understand with most things prevention and education is better than consequences, was after a simple answer .as a sideline question how many forum users are AKSA members? thanks djdojo was thinking this was the case
and what insurance is green menace refuring to?
Insurance is there if an accident occurs ,it definitely doesnt cover stupidity ,.The bottom line is - your own duty of care ! This isnt a new thing.
Seems to me that common sense is just another myth!!
Like intelligence and self preservation, duty of care,
unselfish behavior, etc etc.
What the hell!!!!
so it would be resonable to assume that in reality your not covered at all ?? as it would be next to impossible to define an accident in which you havn't contributed to in some way ,even if you do all the necessary and warranted safe actions ,because kiteboarding/surfing is considered an extreme sport and is inherently dangerous . why then is it allways mentioned as a plus in joining AKSA when it appears not to be the case . therefore my original question stands unanswered If i was to slice off someones ear with a board fin outside of the flags when the said person pops up out of the surf (lets say they were not there the tack before )where does that leave me as an AKSA member what am i covered for and what are the repercussions ???? (am asking for outcome of this senario as i feel it is important for all water users alike to be awere of possible outcomes and responsibilities )" this isn't a new thing" just doesn't cut it for me im afraid![]()
Shannon888:
Your question is best directed to AKSA or your state association via email.
Due to the inflammatory nature of the small amount of kitesurfers who frequent this forum, those guys tend to ignore the crap that gets raised on seabreeze.
If you are asking a serious question and want a serious answer, contact them.
Your question is too vague and ambiguous for an answer to be given here.
It has been answered.
But by email from AKSA, not here on seabreeze where things get analysed, twisted, misquoted and taken out of context.
When you make a claim through AKSA the contents of your claim become confidential and shouldn't be discussed anywhere.
due to the slippery-ness of lawyers and our current legal system, i would suggest that no one could provide a solid answer until it has been tested in court???
happy to be proven wrong...
Think it would be in everyones best interest to know where thay stand with an insurance policy - just common sense... ![]()
I agree. But that stuff is available from AKSA and the state guys. Seabreeze is not their forum to answers those questions.
Only a minority of AKSA members contribute here, only a minority read stuff here, and most of the stuff that gets discussed here gets all twisted by the forum trolls and usual sh1t stirrers..
It's like having a serious business meeting at McDonalds.
Details of the policy conditions are available at AKSA and they always answer other queries when the volunteers get time to do so.
The reason the premium has been increased is because the policy was tested in court and compensation was paid out to several 'victims' of kitesurfer accidents.
