made a kitecam using a gopro wide angle and was able to get so much vision in the frame . The rig is only 1.3m from the bar . i think next time i get to use it i will see if i can get it closer .I have only used it for 6 minutes on the kite . I had the camera set on ntsc which i did not realize untill it was to late but have fixed that issue and the new footage is clear az. i use mac to edit with and not sure of all the functions as i am only new to this game. i received some very helpful information from nerk987 about duplicate frames which i seem to have a few of in this footage . does anyone use macs and is there another name for duplicate frame filters cause i cant seem to find them for my mate mac , anyway bring on summer . any helpful hints would be much appreciated

Always nice to see new experiments in photography happening. Can you post a photo of your mounting hardware you used to attach the camera to the kite lines?

Keep experimenting!

Many thanks,

Rob

Thanks for sharing! I can see the potential! A little bit of unwobbling, and that's a great view for surf footage.

Sorry, I don't know much about Mac editing software - I use AVISynth and DeDup to clean up duplicate frames, but they only really matter for slow motion conversion.

Got both the GoPro Surf as well as a Pentax Optio W30 that I use with CamRig setup.

Both are loads of fun to play with.

Shot some pretty rad vids down the snow last month with the Pentax and CamRig strut velcro attached to my leg on a snowboard. You just have to turn the computer screen sideways to watch it though... ;-)

its very addictive always thinking of new camera angles to get that footage . i also have a surfboard mount that i made using foot strap plugs at the front of the board . i was using Oregon scientific camera but was not the good as it got heaps of shake in it .
i worked at the snow in n.s.w and vic for 4 seasons and only took a camera for the last season . what a waste so much potential i just wish i had my kite gear with me , now that would have been fun.
