hey guys, just want to get your thoughts on the differences between the 11 octane and the 11 nomad..
i saw an 11 octane out a few days ago and the guy was going upwind ect. when my nomad was like falling out of the sky or just plowing downwind lol

i was thinkin how much would the difference be if i went into a shop and traded in my 11 nomad and bought an 11 octane?

Why don't you wait 10 mins and change your mind again?

All kites have weaknesses vs strengths - you may well find the top end/windrange/boosting/relaunch, whatever, sux on the Octane compared to your brand spankers Cab?

Funkys right, also learn to use your Nomad properly and all will be fine. I thought the bottom end on my Nomads was pretty crap until I tuned them up a bit. Loads of stuff on this in the reviews section.

Don't do it! For the sake of 3 knots bottom end - keep your Nomad, they are seriously the best kites i've flown this year...
Octane is a close second though.

You can probably expect to pay a few hundred to make the small downgrade...

You can't compare kites on that basis. Technique/ability/weight of the rider....you get the idea. I've seen plenty of dudes on large kites barrelling down wind cause they have no technique.

The bloke you saw might have better technique than you, don't know, just sayin. Or maybe he was 10kgs lighter. Short version, don't go burnin your money based on what you've explained here.

Hard call, There both much different kites. The octane is s bit more like the switchblade and the nomad is like a nemisis. The wind ranges are different so one will have better bottomend and the other may have a higher topend.

I was watching a lad last night on a nemisis and he was going off on it doing megaloops and lots of wakestyle moves. I dont think he will be trading his in any time soon.

You need to look at what you want from your gear, where you want to use it in what conditions how much you weigh what board size you are ridding and what type it is. But seriously 3kts less bottom end isnt really the end of the world, you should be able to pick that up with a bit better light wind technique or a different board.

yeah i agree^^^ dont waste your money. I have not flown either kite but what i do know is that to get the most out of a kite takes time and the better you get at flying the kite and understanding how it all works the more power you can suck out of it.
