Count me in! Desperate times call for desperate measures. I've windsurfed after dark at Merewether before. No big deal, plenty of lighting from the streets.
cheers

To elaborate...

Tool bags trying to get our sport banned, noobs can't even do it right in daylight when they can see where their gear is. Watch the lost and found section explode. Would you go kiting in a thunderstorm or play cricket when it is raining? No. Would you go kiting at night?

Seriously so many noobs read this forum, your just giving them really bad ideas

Well this little stir of the pot is starting to die from loneliness. Cant have that!

What would you like me to say ?

Hmmm... here we go. "Willful Negligence". Hey Juddy you'd understand the meaning of those words.

Don't forget the navigation glow sticks on your kite wing tips. One red and one green. And one on the board in case you dump it.

Did that once before a fishing friend mentioned that they use glowsticks at night to attract (big) fish.
He may have been pulling my leg but I didn't use them again!

Lots of fun if you know the area you're kiting in well, and have people watching from the beach.

Now we're getting somewhere..

One of the beautiful things about this forum is that you can throw bait out there and the minnows come rolling in, taking the bait (usually hook, line & fkn sinker)….everyone’s sense of humour/ability to recognise sarcasm gets a bit of a belting here – just as it should….

Space ranga has a point, this east coast seasons been crap, no need to get noobs excited thinking they can easily kite at night.

Doesn't that just turn your board into a giant shark lure? Oh wait...

Night kiting was a great experience with a few mates some years ago, 3 cars with high beams on, shark lures ( glow sticks ), bright full moon and strong flood lights in the surf. Was like kiting at dusk there was so much light. We did a midnight kite. Was grand.

We also had a by-buddy system in place.

One guy nearly lost his board, another guy got dragged over a oyster encrusted storm water drain.

Every time you fall off you hear the Jaws theme playing in your head. Every ripple looks like a shark fin. And there are invisible ninja waves you just cant see that take you out randomly.
