I bought a pair of seaspecs with script lenses but the distortion is massive with only limited center focus clear....i kite better with eyes closed....
Any recomendations on good sun script specs???![]()
Depends on the perscription. If you're greater than -3/+3 than you're screwed. They can't make the lens curved enough without distorting it. Any co. who says they can, ask to see an example. The'll either be flat and too far away from your face, or distorted.
I'm -4 and have never been able to find any for work/squash/kite that are worthwhile. Just wear contacts and have a spare set in your bag in case you blow one out.
Just use your last perscription sunnies with a strap and a lanyard connecting to your wetsuit.Make sure you wash with fresh water after use otherwise screws and hinges rust.
Have just ordered a pair of Silverfish sunnies but having lenses done in Aus. Optometrist assured no probs (-1.25). Have had problems with some of the more wrap around stlye though but seem to adjust in time.
most of the major sunlgass companies now have their own Rx program
with what is known as a wrap fit correction
essentially, with out getting too technical, once the surface curvature of the lens goes above a plus 6 front curve or the facial wrap of the frame is quite high the RX lens has to be ground at different power to your actual Rx with some prismatic correction as well to give you the impression that you are looking through the same correction as your normal specs
expensive, with a limit on the power range available
adidas oakley maui jim are a few that do them but expect to pay more than $500+ for a set
daily disposable contacts are a good option as little as $1 a lens which isn't a trauma if you crash and loose one .....but some astigmatic corrections find the vision isn't so crash hot
essentially if your optom pulls a blank face , doesn't offer you some form of alternative or pre-warns you of the vision issues ... look elsewhere or pm me if you get totally stuck
Thanks everyone for your advice and options. Looking into the daily contact lense option (+2.5) first up. Thanks again.![]()
I can recommend a much better option than regular contacts!
I use rigid contact lenses that they call Ortho-K. Been using them for a year now and they are awesome! My eyes couldn't handle wearing daily contact lenses, it was very uncomfortable. So my optometrist recommended these rigid lenses that you wear overnight. So while you have them in over night they correct your vision as your eye ball molds to the shape of the lense. So when you take them out in the morning you have perfect vision all day without anything in or on your eyes!!! is bloody brilliant!
Daily contacts don't breath and are not as comfortable, try using monthly contacts with air that passes through the contact. Eyes are much more comfortable and its affordable, clearlycontacts.com.au is a good cheep place to get contacts. They also do prescription sunglasses.
