this is a kiting forum,if you want to push your views,go and piss off your mates![]()
I will Pm some informative videos on the dangers of smoking, the benefits of a colonoscopie and the best way to treat ingrown hairs on your bikini line![]()
play the ball Sebol...I know young people who have lost their lives in car accidents and it is extremely sad- not a bad thing to give everyone a friendly reminder...
Safe travels this holiday season all....
Good dog. ![]()
More appropriate and worthy than some BS dingle dangle or pimping vid.
Horses and water tho.
Agreed it is hardcore. That's how quick n simple it does happen in real life. Been there - not in a hurry to repeat.
Great reminder to focus on the value of life at this time of year.
Happy n safe travels all.
Personally..... I think it is amazing that the road toll is a low as it is.
Consider a single lane hwy, cars approaching each other at 100kph with nothing but a white line and around 2ft of air to separate certain disaster......
Now consider this ... would you stand on that white line while someone ( anyone ) shot a 303 past your head from 100m away ? I very much doubt it.. Then consider a long drive or tour and just how many cars ( bullets ) you pass
But every time we drive down these hwy we are putting our lives in a strangers hand... we have no idea who the person is coming the other way, how good is their vision, how are their reflexes....
I agree the ads do have some impact,,,,, but I would argue that airbags, abs and crumple zones have had a far greater impact on the road toll reduction.
Ads are all very well and good but until they ( government departments ) actually teach people how to drive in a range of conditions rather than just pass a test.... the standard of driving in this country will not improve.
IMO- Driving should be a course/subject undertaken in year 12 at all schools, kids should get to drive in controlled conditions in the wet, practice emergency stops etc... etc.... and the main aspect all kids should witness a car hit a pole at 60 -70kph ( obviously a cable pull ) just so they can see what the impact of a car hitting a stationary object even at relatively low speed can do........
I had an accident on a farm when I was 23, no seat belt hit a large stump at about 20 -30kph that was enough to split my head on the windscreen and be knocked out .... before that i had never considered an impact as such a low speed could have such a consequence if I was doing 50 -60 I may have been killed.
One thing to remember is that kids ( and some adults ) see adds on TV and often relate it to Hollywood movies etc......" oh that wont happen to me " " its fake " etc....
allow them to see a car hit a pole "in the flesh" so to speak and I bet the reaction is " Faaaarrrrrrrkkkkkkkk that hit hard, Im glad im not in that "
They need to SEE IT, HEAR IT, FEEL IT AND SMELL IT ...... and then they will never forget it.

Sorry for offending you people, I am conscious of the dangers of the road, I agree that the statistic are horrifying.![]()
You could also stay home, not drink coffee, no alcohol, no sex (possible heart attack), never drive and you may live 10 years older.
I choose to live life and am willing to face the associated risks.
Kiting is my escape, the breath of fresh air that keeps me amping every morning when I wake up.
There many many calamities around the world on a consistent basis (the news do a great job of sensationalising any horrific stories), a kiting forum is the last place on earth where I want to be exposed to this stuff.
Take responsibility for your own actions, make sure you drive safely but the danger you expose yourself due to other people driving a metal tank, you can't do anything about it so deal with it and live your life like you may be gone tomorrow.
My take![]()

Happy to see this posted here. This is a kiting forum and as such is frequented by quite a few risk takers who are occasionally prone to bouts of reckless machismo. This puts a fair proportion of our community in the higher risk categories for traffic accidents, including alcohol-related ones.
The ad would be out of place on an Amish barn-raising forum but is right at home here and anywhere else where blokes gather to share tales of adventure, triumph and mishap.
Plan in advance so that you needn't drive, or so that if you have to drive you'll be awake, sober and safe. A simple message but it doesn't always get through. Advance planning is the key, because as soon as you've had a couple of drinks your judgement is already impaired and any plans made in this state will be far from ideal.
Have a great festive season one and all,

Fark!!
I nearly got cleaned up (inches away) by a bimbette rushing through the servo this morning!!![]()
Seriously I stepped out from behind my car as Penelope Pitstop raced between parked cars taking a short cut.
Kn hell - I should have paid closer attention to that add.
I am a cautious kinda guy but was miles away cursing my fuel door relase breaking (so can't put fuel into the mobile).
No way it was cool for Penelope to wizz through that spot and she definetely should have seen me coming, but no-one is gonna look after your safety better than YOU.
Wish bimbette had watched the add too.
She almost had a staring role in the next add - as did I. ![]()
Safe travels folks.
Thanks for the feedback guys I used to head up our local road accident rescue team and had been involved in this stuff at the front line. I have seen too much of it had had to step away from it. So when I get the chance to maybe put some into the arena at this time of year I will take the chance that some may not agree.
You may not have had road trauma come into your life and I hope you don’t but this may just stop one person from getting behind the wheel if that happens then I’m a happier man .
Hope we all get the winds we hope for.

Good work, stay safe, merry xmas
PS: Spare a thought this festive season for the Fireys, Ambos, Oompa loompas and Funstoppers, ordinary people facing extraordinary consequenses brought about by the senseless stupidity of others.
Why the hell is this ONLY aired in Victoria. I should be on national television for everyone to see.
