Predicting weather is a gamble at best since the only truth about any forecast is that it's wrong. With your own weather rock you will always know what's going on outside. Here's how to prepare and mount your very own weather rock.

Find a rock. Any type of rock will do. Pick one that fits in your hand comfortably. The rock should be of a shape that a string tied around the rock will not easily come off.
Prepare the rock for mounting. Tie a suitably hardy string or twine around the rock. The string or twine should be strong enough to withstand any of the bad weather conditions in your area.
Mount the rock. Tie the other end of the string or twine around a tree branch or any other available support that will allow the rock to hang and swing freely. The rock should hang at least one foot below the support. The rock should also be located where it will be affected by all weather conditions.

Read your weather rock.
With your weather rock installed, you will never again be at a loss as to the current weather conditions. Here's how to read your new weather rock.
If the rock is wet, it's raining.
If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing.
If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining.
If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy.
When the rock turns white, it is snowing.
In the morning, if the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost. If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost.

Of course, any of these conditions can be combined during confused weather conditions. With practice, you will become very adept at using your weather rock to determine weather conditions at your location.

yea its crappy weather alright, definetly no seabreezes. but we can still get wind from the pressure systems doing their thing. There are also like 22 cyclones predicted this summer

We just had one of the wettest "dry seasons" that I can remember up here in Nth Qld. Winter for us is usually clear skies and good wind. Probably one of the worst seasons I have experienced up here in 20 years of windsurfing/kitesurfing. Now into our "off season" so no kiting for a least another 3 or 4 months.

Hope it improves for you guys and you end up having a decent season.

Can't beat the rock system, 100% accurate!!!!!

someone at my work was going on about it being 'la' now and that it was going to rain all year. (They go on about it every time it rains.... which has actually been a lot lately...) Its been a crap start to the summer as far as sea breezes here go. I like the frontal stuff too though. So much going on. big messy swell, pouring rain, strong wind (by NNSW standards). It doesn't make me look like the awesome kiter i tell people i am.. but i love it. That being said I'd prefer a predictably good sea breeze every avo.

I need live web cam weather rock updates 'cause I work so far from the beach.

Yes LaNina is IN!
Well that's my opinion anyway, but, our long range weather guy predicted it in february. He assured farmers there would be above average rain until october... after that, unsure, but probably more rain. Well that dude was R-I-G-H-T !

It seems rain follows me everywhere. As an agricultural consultant i'm going to put it on my resume. Happened in my last 7 positions.

I was offered a job in Gero in December last year, but i took a job in the Vic mallee. 12 year drought breaks here in Vic and WA has a dry year. Things aren't looking real good there. we've moved our stock back from WA.

Now, if i could just get the wind to follow me around. However considering lakes are here now that weren't here for 10-15 years, i should be very grateful!! No sign of rain ending yet.

It's funny how el nino means dry weather and no swell for us, but in the US it means big swell and rain!!

La nina is swell and rain for us!!

I don't mind having one la nina year. It's bad for kiting but great for the agricultural industry. They have been struggling for years!!
