laughed at first,but.........http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Time-Manager-eliminates-untangling-lines-/320582709384?pt=AU_Sport_Surfing&hash=item4aa437f088
It's up there with the self inflating kite, similar to those life jackets they have on planes.
What a dream if it worked, I've never seen one yet on the beach.
We made a similar thing out of a bit of rubber with 4 slots cut into it. It works fine.
I kept losing mine and couldn't be bothered. It doesn't really save any time.
Haha thats funny because i also made the same thing.
I used a bit of rubber hose and cut 4 or 5 slots into it almost the entire way through.
Then inserted a thin plastic rod down the middle after putting the lines in the slits.
Worked so well im confident enough to clip the lines directly onto the kite without unrolling my bar. Ofcoarse i would still check before launching.
but i find it easy enough to walk the lines anyway, and by walking the lines you can manually inspect the lines for wear.
slingshot lines come with a similar contraption.
But i find it easier to just tie my centre lines to my steering lines to create a left and a right pair.
Don't wash your kite. You're going to do more damage to the kite than not. Handling, abrasion, UV exposure, chlorine, washing sand into the seams. All do more damage than landing clean and careful dry packing.
Just gently rinse it in the sea while riding to remove excess salt build up.
I have taken to wiping the dacron portions of the kite with a damp chamois. This removes dust and stains. I also use it to knock off any sand stuck to the le after landing. My current quiver of kites are all looking brand new with over 70 hours on each kite.
BTW I connect the front/rear bridles together. I leave the left/right unconnected. I use the bridles to fly the inverted kite as I walk back to the grass rigging area. This keeps the kite high enough to avoid any tangles in shrubs and up in the clear non-turbulent air. At worst I can balance the centre strut on my head or a hand and keep the kite up out of the dirt.
If the wind is not strong enough to fly the inverted kite I roll it up on the beach.
If the kite has been landed mega wet and sandy I rinse it in the sea then carry it up to the grass pack up area. It's easier to handle a wet kite at home than a sandy kite. Even from a sandy kite the sand will all drop off once it dries.
