I rigged up well south of the kite area at Leighton, about 200m from a 60 person wedding with
chairs, umbrellas, flags, camera's etc.
Just as I had pumped it up the kite got away, and started tumbling towards the wedding.
I chased after it .... the leading edge just missed the bride, but knocked the flags over.
I yelled out that it must be a good omen ..... as the it could have wiped out the whole wedding
Someone ended up catching it 500m down the beach. (thanks)
So if you read this forum .... champayne is waiting & I hope you have a great marriage
This area IS totally off limits for kiting during the summer months. For a damn good reason. Another guy who wants to get us completely banned from leighton. I wish your kite got shredded. Sorry mate bit harsh but no sympathy!
You gotta hate it when nothing EVER happens on an empty beach however when the beach is packed you get some freak occurrence to spoil your day.
This part of the beach always has people in summer regardless of wind strength, hence the ban there. It's used mainly by families and young children. He set directly upwind of this area.... SO not cool!
So you kited on a banned beach upwind from a 200 person wedding and let your kite go and you felt the need to tell people here?
I reckon the story is BS. Are you trying to tell me that from a resting start on the beach your kite just rolled and tumbled and slid downwind along a beach for 500 metres?
If true I guess this is also another case of Complacency - I always say 'Curiosity was framed and it was complacency that killed the cat' - never truer than in kiting where things can change awful fast!
i really hope that this thread is just a troll...
But seriously, who plans a wedding on a perth beach in summer in the afternoon? Don't they ever check the weather forecast?
