so heres the plan
take 12 months off to go travelling australia in a station wagon
on top of all the stuff i'll be taking already, is it worth taking my kiting gear with me?
i'll be heading from perth, north across the top end so i was thinking it might be easier to just sell my gear and buy more when i get to queensland
thoughts, suggestions and experiences are all appreciated

cheers

Too many beaches would be missed in N. WA alone. Make room.

I did a 5 month trip from Melbourne - Darwin - Broome - Perth - Melbourne last year. Late May - Sept. Carried 3 kites and 2 boards. One session 25 kt easterly at Broome town beach. Nothing at Pt Sampson, Cossack, Exmouth. Two excellent sessions at Pelican Pt Carnarvon. Nothing at Gnaraloo. Session at Little Lagoon Denham. Nothing Kalbarri. Session at Geraldton. Nothing from there to Perth.
My timing was dictated by the nice dry weather and the fabulous things to see and do up there (other that kiting)

You are from WA so you know the season for North. WA. Oct - Feb to the best of my knowledge. Take your gear if that's when you will be in North WA. But it will be wet season!

Don't expect much wind or ocean of course on the trip East after Broome. (in dry season) Tides and crocs are a problem as well as lack of good wind.

Plant B take gear when the wind dies keep the board in the car and post the rest on to queensland should not cost a great deal at the post offices

When we holiday I pack the kite gear first and then let the family divide up the remaining space.

YES !!!
Otherwise you'll be calling yourself an 'Idiot' when you stand on some of the beaches and think 'If only I'd packed my gear'.
Plus, can you live for that long without a kite ???

One has to ask if this guy is for real...YOU know how it works: don't have gear, get wind...

Better to have (gear) & not need it than not having gear & needing it....

You havent lived till you have kited Lake Argyle
And the whole town will turn out to watch you ripping Lake Kunnunara apart.
No crocs above the diversion dam wall and the scrub is so low even half a boost will be seen from the main street.

Not well known for their seabreezes though.

I moved from Darwin to Sydney about a year ago, I had a getz (still do) I took all my kite gear, enough clothes and eskies and camping equiptment for a 3 week holiday. The car was cramped and a bitch to unpack every stop, but so glad i had the kite gear in the car. Even if you don't plan on kiting, you will come across some awesome beach with the wind blowing just right and you'll kick your self for not packing it. I got an awesome session in at yeppoon on that trip. One of the best i've had
