Has anyone had much experience with them?

I need to get something so that I can have my phone on me whilst I ride at cable or out kiting (I'm on standby for work quite a lot throughout the week and need to be able to take calls).

I'm looking at the Lifeproof case & armband or the Amphibx armband.

Any one who's used either of these cases know if they're capable of taking the usual heavy cable crashes without being ripped off my arm?

One better than the other?

Any other products which would be more suitable?

Thanks

I bought a really cheap dry bag style case for my iphone 3Gs from ebay. It would fit an Iphone 4.

Although it is my spare phone and I was using it for the GPS to get an idea about how fast I was going both kitesurfing and on my Thundercat.

Even after coming out of the thundercat at 36kts it did not let any water in.

We have the iDri 5M if you want to look at the basic cheaper type option.
Used mine for more than 12 mths - not a problem.

Why would you pimp him a bag if he needs to take calls while kiting?
Kinda defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I use a case, similar to the one above, surfing, kiting, anything on the water, you can answer calls, speak through and hear people fine on it, i too have the same problem of being on call. Works a charm!

Yell through the bag?

Lifeproof and h20 audio are a high quality combo. Not worth being tight if your phone/email/seabreeze/life is going to get wet

No, I said speak. Not yell.

Not to be a troll about it but I'd hate work following me while I kite.

It's bad enough getting back to the car and checking my phone afterwards.

Ill put it forward that Mobiles should be banned from the world.

I would prefer to be kiting and be on call then be at work the whole day!

You can also just use a couple of glad zip lock bags, i used this the other day, works a treat, phone stayed dry and i was still able to use the touch screen through the plastic.

Thanks for all the response.

My main concern is with using the armband. Anyone used one and can say that there's no chance of it being ripped off my arm? Haven't seen any of them in the flesh yet.

Would much prefer to be out riding with a phone on me, than sitting on a couch with a phone on me..

AWESOME IDEA,

I actually tried it last year with my brand new 4GS.

Usual downwinder, did a few runs then checked the phone to make sure everything was fine.
sweet, it is working

Went back out and started pushing a bit more, a few boost and a couple of trashing in the waves later, I headed back to the beach at Trigg.

Checked the pocket on my arm and I had a an I-quarium.

Turned out to be an expensive kite and never got to download the data from the GPS

I won't try this again.

H20 Amphibix is the way to go! been using it for 4years now not a prob, just wash the sand out of seal if you dump it in sand when taking off your rashie. fresh water rinse out headphones so they dont get too corroded over time.
you might spend a bit but its definatly worth it, expecially if you get stranded either kiting or SUPin or you need to ring some one quicksmart.
Kite power stock them and the 3s headphones (headphones for hands free).
Get the older H20 Amphibix armband style and not the newer H20 armband style as its not as secure and you cant fit your electronic Key inside too.

Good winds and happy tunes!!
