Honestly... Not the friendliest kite to learn on. I find that the b3's don't handle gusts well and are very powerful, turn extremely well (means they bat well above their weight, i can get out on my 11 in 9 knots on a 146tt). Being a lighter (65kg dripping wet) rider learning on them was a steeper learning curve. Having said that I'm loving them now that ive progressed past just riding back and forth, there a great kite for freestyle, they just drop you like a rock if you pull larger airs, loops like a dream though. Might want to get more opinions on this as I've only been kiting 4 months.

B3 is perfect to learn on.

Enough depower to handle gusts, good safety, then when you learn to upwind- turn the power on and there's heaps. It's very user friendly, predictable.

Good for beginner.

Hold on I just read your other forum message, your only 63kg?

A nine meter will be huge for you, i'm not saying don't fly it, just respect it, especially with the southerly's your getting over the next few days. I think if you had a seven meter you would be a lot more comftable and progress a bit faster.

Take it easy out there today that nine is powerful. It will be a good kite to learn on, but respect the power it has and you'll be fine.

I'll be at Elliot tomorrow, I'll watch for your kite and come and say G'day.

Yeah as yeehaa said; fairly powerful kite mate... I like riding powered and on the upper end of the wind range they just don't handle the gusts at all (especially at our weight). And the problem with them is that if you want some depower you have to trim the kite, which in turn transforms them into a much harder kite to fly.

DO NOT AGREE with the "good safety" though, they are notorious for not throwing the bar far enough, in other words doesn't flag out when you want it to. I was caught out a fair few times learning to jump, flying the kite through the bridle in turn causing it to deathloop uncontrollably even after hitting the QR. Don't let that deter you mate, that was poor kite control on my behalf, many have learnt on them and im sure many more will, im still riding them for a very good reason: I LOVE THEM!

Enjoy
Josh
