Boy the Noobs cop it over winter don't they.![]()
Matt, perhaps a better question would be:
"What are a few good all rounder kites and why?"
As the eloquent folks above have said the definitive kite is elusive and subjective (in black and red or any colours).
How about supplying some info on your weight etc. Also what you hope to do with it such as riding twin tips or surfboards, flat water/surf/cruising/downwinders etc. Be realistic too - there is no way you will be charging over head high waves in your 1st season.
So anyway, I just got an Eclipse Nano 9m that is maybe not super spectacular in any area but an extremely well behaved genuine all rounder that happily achieves a bit of everything and will be great fun in cr@ppy onshore waves for me. Works for me and my 85kgs in 16-30kts anyhoo.
The Ozone Sports are tasty too. Plenty of choices which does complicate things a bit.
Any other kites suggested?
Good luck.
My 9mtr Ozone Sport, that's going on sale very soon, would be an excellent choice.![]()
As GF said, it depends on a lot of things.

The Ultimate allrounder kite

Kitesurf, Sleep in it, or hang wit some Hommies ![]()
P.s can u count how many air cells it has ?
perhaps someone could sum up the best all-round kite aimed at noobs from each manufacturer
eg: North - Evo
Naish - ???
Cabrinha - ???
etc - ETC
(not really keeping up with the new stuff)
he never said he was a noob. it's a reasonable guess that he is but the question could also be legitimately asked by a highly skilled kiter who still uses his/her 3 year old kites in a range of conditions/disciplines but who hasn't followed recent tech trends and now wants to update.
in which case an all-round kite may be one that's fun for a range of skill levels and works reasonably well in waves, for freestyle, speed and cruising.
obviously there are lots of good kites out there, some highly specialised and others more useful in a big range of contexts for a big range of riders. personally i've been stoked with my switchblade 3s that i bought second hand and seem to do everything pretty well.
