I have been Kiting for about a year or so on the gold coast
(mostly shearwater runaway bay) and on friday i will be traveling to coolum at the sunshine coast for a meeting. as i have most of the day free after that i wanted to check out if and where i can kite. can anyone help me out???
Try cotton tree in maroochydore if the wind swings n or ne in the avo, although the forcast is for nw winds which means double island point is a go. you'll need a 4x4. Have fun mate!!
well i dont have a 4x4 unfortunatly, is there anywhere else along the coast line maybe south of coolum??
Hi mate, anywhere along the beach north of Coolum (stumers creek) itself is great for kitesurfing in all winds except anything with west in it. Make sure you stay out of the flaged areas and give other beach users a wide berth. Try and do a downwinder from sunshine beach down to stumers would be the best.
It is exposed beach and if your not used to surf the shore break may be a challange for you.
You can find flat water at lake cootharaba about 30 min drive north from Coolum or Maroochydore river mouth 20 min drive south.
The forecast for Friday looks like it's going have a bit of west in it. If it swings more from the north it will be good.
