Hi all.
is there anywhere here that has 12mnth wind averages. I can find a 30 day chart but not a twelve.
Or is there anywhere else that someone knows about

Do a search for 'bom wind roses' takes a few seconds to get your head around but very handy once you do.

NASA publishes surface meteorology data for areas as small as 1 degree lat/long square (~100kmx100km near the equator) covering the whole globe. You can get average/min/max wind speed at 10m and 50m elevation by month by time of day (assumes flat terrain such as an airport - presumably similar to over water ;). The interface is a bit clunky and you need to submit an email address + password but there is a lot of data there....

Interesting... November is best wind month for Sydney.

I was talking to some local kitesurfers (Manly) who seemed to suggest that the summer has the best winds, and that in winter it was mostly westerly so dirty gusty off shore winds...
