Hi All,
I'm looking at buying a 1981 Carter 33 but having trouble locating any documention or diagrams on the 1981 model and I was wondering if there were any Carter owners that could help out?

Kieth.
I owned a Carter 33 centre cockpit for a couple of years, it was a 1984 model from memory. I recieved with it a photocopy of the sail plan and layout diagram for a aft cockpit model , it was refered to as the Racer 33, some of the information on the diagram is the head office was for Yelsley Yachts at Pennant hills and the factory was at Seven Hills.
Length 9.99 meters
Waterline 8.26 m
beam 3.4 m
draft 1.83 m
displacement 4672 kg
ballast 2268 kg
I will attempt to scan and attach it later however it is a pretty poor copy
I dont know if a 81 model is the same ?
It was a lovely boat to sail ,but the bent over walk out of the aft cabin first thing in the morning wasnt much fun

Keith,
Plenty of info on Carter yachts in this thread. The Carter 33 was derived from the Carter 3/4 tonner.

Thanks all
I 've decided not to go ahead with this boat but now looking at other carters so the more info the better.
The info so far has been great.
Keith.
Ok the sale fell through so now I'm looking at a 1982 Roberts 30 advertised on Boatpoint - So does anyone have info on the Roberts 30? Her keel is abit shallower than the carter so I was wondering what she would be like coastal sailing? Looks good in the pictures hopefully we can take a look at her on the weekend so any tip would be great.

WE could not be happier with our Carter 33 Passage.
They actually sail, still quite competitive against the newer French boats.
They are bulletproof, a Centurian tank would be a good comparison.
They are definetely not tender and love a good breeze.
The Passage is the centre cockpit, the aft cockpit is simply a Carter 33.
We used to have, many years ago, a South Coast 36 (based on Roberts design) if you like sailing sideways, it is a nice yacht.
There are some very cheap Carter 33's about, plus the other good quality brands mentioned.

Thanks again everyone once again I was out bid by $500.00 dollars, so the Roberts is off my list which is most likely for the best. I got to say there are some very shonky brokers out there although they say they believe in being honest!!
Anyway I'm so sick of this of the boat industry both private and government trying to squeeze the last cent out of boat owner that I'm just going to give up and stay away from the indaustry.
Thanks to everyone for your help and advice.
Keithw.
Sorry to hear that, I am looking to buy a boat and sail off into the sunset sometime.
I am getting involved with sailors and boats and hope to find the right fit for me.
I am thinking of a couple of years.
BTW anyone in Freo who wants crew for cruising let me know.
I think I understand where Keith is coming from and I don't totally disagree with him. I have often wondered why similar boats here are 50% and more dearer here than overseas. As for brokers used boat salesmen, I think only real estate agents get more loathing from me.
