I bought a 29er a couple of weeks ago, nice boat, rigging is alright just some ropes need replacing. the main sail i have for it has a little cord that runs along the leach from the head to the clew, it is used to adjust the leach so it doesn't flap when sheeted in. the problem is that the cord has slipped through the little plastic cleat and into the sail, is there any way i can get it back down and out with hafting to take it to sail shop? if i haft to take it to the sail shop how will they get out?

It should not have gone too far in. Lay the sail flat on the lawn, start at the top and gather the leach material up while holding the cord. You only have to gather up a couple of inches over the whole distance. Ask someone who does some sewing to give a hand if your not sure [ask your mum]. Tie a figure 8 knot in the end once you have it out or loosen off the screws and re tighten after tucking in the tail so it does not re occur.

try locating the end in the leech, then undo 1 or 2 stitches to get the end out. then thread a darning needle with string and feed it back to the base and the tying off point . attach the string to the leech line and pull through. maybe tie a large bead to the end of the leech line to stop it going back
