I used to go to River Quays Mortlake and tie up alongside their wharf and go up the ladder there to access my masthead about 9m above the water. Farr727 quarter tonner. They are now gone. Does anyone know of another location west of the bridge where I can do this for gratis? Fig Tree Bridge looks like a possibility but a wharf and 9m high ladder / structure would be best. Thanks in advance. rgds Rob

If you fancy a sail up to the Central Coast I did this accessing the mast from the St Huberts Island bridge. You have to do it at the top of the tide or a bit before, the current can jam you under it.

You could also hire a cherry picker.

I used the derrick on a mates fishing vessel to access the mast top of my old quarter tonner. Just parked alongside. Wound out the derrick and climbed out on it and pulled the mast head in to me. Easy to pull that sized mast over about 10 feet or so. My boat was a MIller and Whitworth 26, 10 wide and stiffer than a Farr.
