American River, Kangaroo Island

Earlier this week I single-handed down from North Haven to American River. If you're cruising to Kangaroo Island and pass American River without stopping, you're missing out on a very lovely spot. In fact, it reminded me of Pittwater in NSW, minus the mega-expensive houses.

Yes it was relaxing - at least until the last day when I had a head wind and rain!

I envy you but really I cruised that area and spencer gulf for years and then headed to Tassie then up the east coast of oz and don't look back that much.......22deg nights and 30deg days why stay down there in the craft you have....!

True, the nights are cooler down south, but we still have stunning winter sailing (between the cold fronts). And the southern summers are of course glorious when the north is battling cyclone season!

That said, I've enjoyed sailing the Whitsundays a couple of times and hope to get up north again.
