Gooday Sea Dragon,

I keep my boat in the tweed river and have crossed the bar many times.

Out going tide, and a max swell of 1.5-1.8m depends on your boat.

When I head up to southport I aim for a low somewhere around middle of the day, and then you have an in coming tide at the other end.

Enjoy the trip

Rick

Actually looking at the sea breeze forecast for Sunday doesn't look great with strong northerlies!

Should be fine, tides not great, but Ive only got an 8hp diesel and motor about 4 knots. I tend to use a run out to get out of the river and then the run in at Gold Coast.

I had to motor up to coomera recently, and took me about an hour to go 2nm....against the tide

Have a good trip

Thanks mate
Got twin 9.9 Yammys, going to have them firing downstream around 10am. I'm praying right now the wind doesn't change. Having a beer handed to me every afternoon when I walk in the door is starting to annoy me lol

Just got out of a 20yr stretch, not keen to get tangled up again lol

Trip went fine,25kt from the rear seen me surfing towards Soithport.Got circled by a pod of Dolphins before the Seaway. Sitting anchored behind Straddie now waiting for the tide to turn. Took me 2.5hrs from Tweed mooring to Southport Seaway. Having some lunch and a cool drink.

Not sure what your plans are, but yes Jacobs Well is a nice spot to spend a few days. We spent a couple of days there just after Chrissy.

Then I think one of the best places up there was in behind Karragara...... Cold water shower behind the swimming enclosure, electric BBq,s, (and toilets) very well maintained. A quick dinghy ride, or ferry trip, across to macleay island, bottle shop, supermarket, reasonable counter meals....we spent about 4 days there, kids loved it, could have been longer!

Cheers
Rick

Arrived at 5pm,cracking the cold ones now :0)

Two hours from seaway to Jacobs. Ran over a gravel bank(I think) in the bloody channel to boot!...and cracked a rudder casing. Disconnected it and arrived on one...another job before its slipped.
