Hi all, when I bought Cav 32 some months ago it came with a lot of gear which had been removed by the previous owner,
One of the items was an autohelm 3000 which was working when removed in 2005, I set it up on the bench to test before fitting to the boat but all is not well, the blurb says on power up the LED should blink and the unit go into standby mode but what I get is the light staying on and the internal sounder going, nothing I push twist turn or press has any effect. the main chip has a sticker dated 1987, I think it's time for a new auto pilot!!!
Rather than muck around with it I have ordered a Raymarine EV 100 wheel pilot from Whitworths on the Sunshine coast.
The motor on the autohelm works on a battery forward and reverse and all the other mounting gear is in a box, so if anyone wants it for parts PM me. I live in Maleny.
I've pulled the Rutland wind charger apart to replace the bearings hopefully that works when reassembled.

wow bill i have a auto helm 4000 not currently working and i believe the components are interchangable i could sure use this unit
