i skippered this Adams for 2.5 years in the whitsundays! She's a tank! I know the boat very well and I'm amazed the price they have on it.....unless something major has occurred.

Why would you advertise a boat that has recently been valued at $350,000 for $120,000
It doesn't make any sense to me
Regards Don
Maybe I should go in with a low offer!
Seriously, must be something wrong with the boat, or someones getting the buy of the year.
Southace you get the award for bargain spotter of the year?
Draft of 2.4 metres is going to limit entry to a lot of places. Even swing mooring fees would be pretty high. That's a lot of expensive antifoul too.
I just talked my mate into buying that alloy Cole 42 off eBay a couple of days ago. Probably should have bought it myself in hindsight. It has a beam of about 15 feet and is an enormous boat compared to his RORC 38.
I Still can't believe it's going so cheap.had a new yanmar when I first started so it appears that's been replaced. New mainsail fitted 2013. I would say they are downsizing the fleet of 3 or upgrading To a new one.
Any update on why this yacht is soooo cheap, re: its recent survey valuation.? Recently blown motor, rigging, sails etc needing replacing (or no insurance)??

Only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, insurance / survey valuations mean squat all unless the boat is written off in an insurable event, even then unless you have agreed value on your policy you may end up with much less.
If it truly was so cheap it would have never even made it to market as someone in the know would have purchased her, given that she is a commercial vessel I would suggest that many people know of her.
The other reason is it probably owes the owner very little after all the depreciation etc, there is probably zero emotion involved and they just want to move it.
Would be interested to find out what it eventually does sell for.
Truth to be is that I think now thats all she's worth anyway. To use this yacht as a cruiser you would need to spend at least 100k
basicly running backstay ex racing rig., twin cockpits, no autopilot. Just depth and basic switchboards. No davits , solar , dodger , furlers .....etc
Accommodation has been modified to sleep 12 with 6 in private cabins It is no longer open plan living.
The yacht is aluminium and was filled and faired and sprayed in 2 pk about 10 years ago.
My dream is/would be to have a liveaboard yacht that is in survey but this yacht in my opinon would not be ideal for anything other than its current application.
Im still yet to believe there is such thing as a BARGIN!
Couple of weeks back I talked my mate into buying the alloy Cole 42 off eBay. I wish the hell I bought it myself now of course. This is an enormous boat and way too big for my purposes. 21 grand with a new Perkins that has never been started. Set of Hanse sails made by North that are immaculate. Needs new halyards and the electronics updated but this is what a bargain looks like. Some deck layout changes will be happening but he is very adept at alloy welding. She presently has paint on the topsides but I think she will be back to bare alloy soon.

Is the Perkins fitted or still new in the box? :)
New engine and gearbox installed but the installation is not yet complete. The vessel has a V shaft drive and that is seized. Mate has it out and separating it now. I should imagine one of the previous owners threw a lot of money at this and lost interest.
never heard of a Cole 42 ?
It's a one off Sydney Hobart racer. Imagine a Cole 32 enlarged and built in alloy!

It would be interesting to see or hear a few progress reports regarding this so called BARGIN boat. A they the new sails draped over the boom? :)
i think actually I recall seeing this boat on my travels the dodger rings bells.
if you include an hourly rate without to many surprises my geuss would be at least another 25k to get her safely sailing around the bay?
how many years since its been pulled from the water?
theres a Dunc 40 here for sail we offered 10 k but knocked us back said would take 15k but I said not worth it. They just antifouled it and got the motor started after 7 years....rings me up tells me they just spent 5k on cleanup and antifouled so back around the 20k figure. I still wouldn't touch it for that price!
Sorry Ramona it's just I have not yet to see a bargin yacht yet.....
Same as the holland 42 above. Designed for 300 kg in the cockpit or perhaps it has a big anchor or sails in the bow!
I have had a few bargains and a break even. In fact out of all my boats i've ever owned just under 10 i've only ever not made a profit once and that was a break even. I have also had the same luck with cars about 10 again. There was one time I brought a new ute and thought I was going to take a hit but someone brought it for 4 grand for more than I paid new with 20,000kms on top. The only problem is it has fuelled this addiction that I cant stop buying them if I see them then I have to flick them over to avoid the old rule of not having 2 boats at once.
It looks a tad nose heavy?
That's an interesting observation, the boat in the picture I posted is the same. Walking down the dock towards it and looking at masts of all the yachts on the dock as they line up, the Cole seemed to have a foot of forward rake.
That seems like good buying for someone that wants to go cruising or liveaboard, good sails ,autopilot ,windvane, rigging, dinghy, diesel and nav gear, , ,I would think it would sell easily.

Its all there for blue water sailing . I sort of over looked the fittings and fixtures when I bought my little boat and they add up plus the boats set up is proven over its last few years of cruising
Tomooh I think it will sell quickly to
